Sony announces Ghostbusters for mobile phones.

Earlier this week, Sony announced a new plan to sell mobile phone owners theatrical films on memory sticks. Calling it “Movies on Memory Cards” (or MMC), Sony hopes to take advantage of an increasing number of phones (notably new Nokia models) that allow users to swap in memory cards.

“Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Spider-Man 2, are already available, and now Sony plans to release Hitch, Ghostbusters, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Stuart Little.”

These cards are currently only available in the UK, though should a person elsewhere have one of these “series 60” type phones, there’s no reason why the card shouldn’t work for them. The cards retail for just under 20 pounds at Carphone Warehouse stores.

I haven’t seen Hitch, but I hear the LA Engine 23 New York Ladder 8 firehall is featured in it, so I included it in the above image.

More Ramis in Austin

After helping to spark that painful bout of GB3 rumours, Ain’t It Cool News has a new interview with Harold Ramis at the Austin Film Festival – the piece talks a great deal about his new movie, Ice Harvest (opening November 23rd), a bit about early work with a pre-SNL Bill Murray (very interesting), and a small amount about Ghostbusters 3, which covers everything we’ve heard before. Ramis’ last words on the matter confirm what a lot of people always suspected;

“In the end, it sounds greedy, but the deal couldn’t be made. We as an entity… Me… well, I’m low man on that totem pole deal-wise, but Ivan, Bill, Danny and me couldn’t make a deal with the studio. There wasn’t enough left for the studio.

And I can’t say my heart was really in it, you know… making the third one.”

Rick Moranis releases new country album – and it’s hilarious!


While he hasn’t been on the big or small screen in awhile, Rick Moranis hasn’t been idle – somewhere along the line Rick cut a country album and The Agoraphobic Cowboy is now available.

Presented in more the western style (as in, “we have both kinds of music here; country AND western”), the songs have a wry, witty edge. For example, the Johnny Cash Hank Snow classic I’ve Been Everywhere – about a man who’s been, well, everywhere and lists the names of all those places – is reworked into I Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere, about a guy who doesn’t want to leave his house, and lists all the reasons why not, including the internet and a kid getting mauled by a bear.

Those of you who are a fan of Moranis (and especially if you remember his musical work on You, Me, The Music, and Me and SCTV), you should check this out. Ask your local record store, but it may only be available to buy directly from his website (yes, his website – don’t get too excited, it’s geared entirely towards the album, via Artist Share.)

Ghostbusters Legion hardcovers prepped for shipping

It’s been a wait, but it’s almost over – 88mph Studios sent out an email today to everyone that ordered a copy of the Legion series hardcover letting them know that the books will start shipping soon.

“We will send your book(s) at the address on your PayPal file at the moment of purchase.

We have not started to ship the book(s) yet and we will inform you when we do by email and on this page.

If you changed address between the time you ordered and now please inform us of your new shipping address by using the proper subject line “Address Change” in the contact form at the bottom of this page. If you have not changed address then nothing is required form your part at the moment.

We Thank You for your order and hope you will enjoy your purchase.”

If you ordered the book, but don’t recieve an email regarding it within 24 hours, or if you’ve changed your mailing address since you initially placed the order, 88mph asks that you contact them (select the appropriate subject line from the drop-down menu.)

This is a good time to remind everyone that if you placed your order through Graham Cracker Comics, your order is fine and will be shipping soon as well.
