This is a minor note – the “repackaged” DVDs are out today. The two DVD gift-set was never intended to be available forever – instead Sony is breaking them up into individual films. Same green goo cover, normal DVD case, one for Ghostbusters and one for Ghostbusters 2.
The gift-sets are still fairly available, so if you haven’t picked it up, you might want to. And if you ever thought about buying it for someone else, the gift-sets are the better deal, so buy them while you still can.

I personally like the covers that they had when they first released on DVD..OR..go back to the old skool black ones..yea..thats my 2 cents
I think the 1st DVD covers looked kinda in the middle of something, not really finished. These new pkgs are better, but perhaps SONY would be better off not acting as if fans of TMNT and GB have THAT much in common. I mean, what does green have to do with GHOSTBUSTERS? The only reason I crossed over to TMNT was b/c my Mother and everyone else around me thought I was getting a little too obsessed with GHOSTBUSTERS…I think the RGB toyline gave way to TMNT b/c most of the toy buyers of RGB didn’t really buy the toys b/c they wanted them, but rather did so b/c they knew someone else that had RGB toys and therefore wanted to have them themselves. That doesn’t really sound like something teenagers and older people would do unless, supposing old(er) people played with toys, the people that played with RGB toys were good looking or had a lot of money or both, but that’s about the only point where the “sanctity” of life comes in to play in reality. Kids don’t have anything to draw upon except their peers and their parents. Kids like toys, and their parents don’t play with toys, but their peers do. So the kids that don’t know what they want buy what their peers have. The kids that know what they want are what you might call “trendsetters”. When I found this out I was so mind-boggled to think me and likeminded people were once TRENDSETTERS!! B/c I still follow my heart I’m now mocked by the same people I once set the trends for. How the times have changed. B/c of this and other similiar things, my mind can’t fully load on GHOSTBUSTERS anymore, but these films are still some of the VERY BEST entertainment ever! These films and almost everything I remember from the 80′s will always be a way for me to not feel so bad about the dumb people that don’t know or care to know anything…
Huh wha???
Yeah, black background with just the logo would be so much cooler.
At this point I just want GB2 on Blu-ray!
I have the green goo version double disc dvd set, and agree with the the old school thinkers. i,e black cover is so much better, therefore sorry Jonathan, but on this score you are talking bunkum.
They tried a similar stunt when they repackaged BTTF for a new run, it sucked. So I bought the old school style and can sleep better knowing I did.
I’ll get around to doing the same with the GB movies but it seems I can only locate them as seperate dvd’s in that format.
If it ain’t broke yadda yadda yadda!!
