Summer showings of Ghostbusters in Duluth

Every year, both Ghostbusters films tend to be shown a least a couple of times around the United States, most often as favorites of outdoor film showings – this June 27th, Ghostbusters will be showing at the Leif Erikson Park in Duluth. For more information (like what else is showing when – Young Frankenstein!), check here. If anyone hears of any other Summer showings, let us know.

ID card contest – just the facts, M’am.

Everybody has been pretty keen to hear more about the submissions to the contest – as promised, I’ve put together two teams – the “dream team” based on the actors that were suggested the most, and the “hybrid team”, which is made up of my favorite actors from the five winning submissions. The dream team would be a pretty good team, and at the same time, the hybrid team would be interesting. Remember; Columbia that Eddie Murphy and John Candy were THE guys to play Winston and Louis, so scoff not at what seems like an odd combination. The original team was just as odd, and look how that turned out.

The OGBs

Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, and Rick Moranis.

The Dream Team

Seth Rogan as Ray, Stephen Colbert as Egon, Mos Def as Winston, Ryan Reynold as Peter (I did say on the radio that Odd’s pick of Raynolds was popular), and Seth Green as Louis – because any movie with two Seth’s has got to be good.

The Hybrid Team

Jon Favreau as Ray, Alexis Denisof as Egon, Jay “Beerfest” Chandrasekhar as Winston, John C. McGinley as Peter, and Alyson Hannigan as Louis… or possibly Louise. Given Denisof and Hannigan are married, maybe the love interest isn’t between Egon and Janine this time around.

It boggles the mind, doesn’t it?

Aykroyd continues to promote game as third movie

Dan Aykroyd recently had some questions put to him while opening a new House of Blues – it was short, sweet, and not entirely about Ghostbusters, but The Question always makes it in there, doesn’t it?

The Day: “Will there ever be a Ghostbusters III?”

Aykroyd: “You know … in October, we are releasing the Ghostbusters video game, and it’s really the third movie … I’ve been writing on it and working with the gang, and they’ve come up with a wonderful story. So … if you want to see Ghostbusters 3, it’s the game. It’s really, really good. And it’s a family game. We’re not killing anybody. We’re only sending entities back to where they came from.”

Return of the Ghostbusters cracks 3K on PC

By the time you read this, the most ambitious Ghostbusters fan film to date, Return of the Ghostbusters, will have been downloaded off the PC host servers 3000 times (imagine then how many times it’s been downloaded from all the other host servers and BitTorrent.)

And that’s not even the amazing part – the biggest downloading periods up until now were the movie’s initial month of release and December (which one would assume is because a lot of people are home for the holidays and have the time to watch) – but May has seen more downloads than those two earlier month combined. Which means that as the hype for the video game grows, and interest in Ghostbusters grows, more and more people will see RotGB! Congrats to Hank and the cast and crew – golf clap!
