Matthew spotted these sweet clips on YouTube, featuring test footage of the Slimer puppet and builder/actor Billy Bryan testing out the Stay-Puft head. Awesome stuff.
As a bonus, pop a minute or so into this clip to see Mr. Bryan today, as he signs a Stay Puft figure for a fan.

These clips are awesome and amazing finds. This is the kind of nugget I’d like to see on the Blu-ray.
Great job Matthew. These clips are incredible!
Exactly! Put this on the fuckin BluRay!!! Why not try “enhancing” the Anniversary editions, instead of just rehashing them with bad artwork… Do it right. No pencil sketch concepts with photoshopped paper clips. Go Black. Go Simple. Go Bold. AND PUT SOME DAMN INCENTIVES ON THERE!!! No excuses, HA, you have the room now!!!
I think the stay-puft footage is really eye opening. I would’ve never have guessed that the face was capable of so much movement and had such range with it expressions. You really don’t get that from the footage you see in the movie.
Really awesome stuff.
Footage from these videos was used in the Movie Magic home video and tv episode about 10-15 years ago. The first bit of Terror Dog footage came from the Movie Magic home video.
Anyway, I gotta agree with everyone that THIS is the type of stuff that should be on the new DVDs and Blu-Rays (don’t forget the DVDs), instead of just doing a straight re-release of the 2005 set with a few bonus items in the package. Plus there is so much material from the GB1 Criterion laserdisc that never made it to DVD, so that should all be on there as well. All of the music videos would be a nice thing to include too (just pay the damn money, Sony, for the actor’s royalties). And *anything* movie-related on the GB2 disc would be a welcome addition.
# Anthony Says:
Go Black. Go Simple. Go Bold.
Maybe Sony is afraid that once they go black, they’ll never go back.
Sorry, I couldn’t resist the joke.
I agree with all of the above, but is it just me or were they having a little too much fun watching slimer’s butt jiggle? although i would have laughed very hard too if i were there.
I love the idea of these being on the blu-ray discs as extras, and anything GB2 would be an awesome addition, if i remember correctly, the coke commercials, the hardee’s commercials as the official gb2 headquarters, and alot of other stuff would be nice.
Seeing these videos I can’t help but think a lot will be lost if they make CGI ghosts… in a potential third movie. Those weird, unnatural facial expressions they could get from the latex Slimer (and to a lesser extent the animatronic Stay Puft head) are hard to achieve with computer animation.
Oh yeah, we’ve started a fire here, people. By the way, did you notice that Time Life HAD to do the entire RGB box set? Which means we should ask them to put the movies out in super-special-limited-marshamllowed-Terror-Doged editions with many hours of footage (yeah, I believe Sony IS afraid to pull out any money to put these movies in their so-called special editions and count me out of any GB Blu-Ray, DVD or Gamazillajong (whatever that is) edition for at least the next 25 years unless a decent (description: a very complete and immersive edition). But since I’m just about the only one, they’ll have it their way… I bet they’d rather do a GB 3 than a true 2-disc or 3-disc GB edition. Can you believe Blade Runner had a four-disc (five with the limited edition) treatment. Heck, even Supergirl got a deluxe treatment from Anchor Bay with a 50-minute making-of! Man, I’m getting angry… Sony, you better not /$%? this one up.
*Don’t forget about the “Richard Edlund SFX Vol.1″ Japanese Laserdisc that had ALL SORTS of BTS GB1 stuff on it, as well as interviews with crew that were NEVER seen elsewhere [I know because I own this laserdisc] ;/…
*And even if we did see this stuff on the new discs, it’d be severely cut for time, or interspersed with a new “making-of” featurette, and not seen in their entirety
…I’ve seen this happen too many times to count…
*That’s why I’m not holding my breath that the DVD’s/Blu-Ray’s will be anything spectacular, short of the goodies [Stay Puft figurine, jar of ectoplasm, ect.] that come with them :/…
*Cheers.
