The awesome blog, Bargain Bin Beats has posted a selection of Ghostbuster MP3s, including the entire Tahiti Real Ghostbusters soundtrack, Run-DMC’s title single from Ghostbusters 2, and Jim Latham’s Extreme Ghostbusters theme. The site editor says he has the entire Extreme Ghostbusters soundtrack to upload in the future – I’m wary, but intrigued. Stay tuned! Thanks Andreas!
Aykroyd hopes for GB3 production by Fall
In Boston to promote a new House of Blues, Dan Aykroyd answered some online questions for the Boston Globe – as is typical, the first question asked was about Ghostbusters 3
[Comment From Tom] Dan, I’m extremely excited for the HOB to be back in its birth-city!! I will be attending many shows. On a side note, and I’m sure you get these questions a lot, so I apologize in advance…Ghostbusters 3? I’ve heard that the writers of the Office are currently penning a script? How is this coming along, and should we look forward to this movie seeing the light of day? Thanks Dan!
Dan Aykroyd: Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009
What’s it mean? Well, it doesn’t mean a Ghostbusters 3 is a sure thing. It means that if all goes well, the script commissioned last year will hopefully get the green light by around June, and if that happens, then hopefully the movie will go into production in the Fall. So, excellent to hear Dan is still pushing forward with the film, but it’s still not a done deal yet. Thanks Andreas!
[UPDATE] Big ups to Ain’t It Cool News for helping spread the story, even if they’re not promoting Proton Charging (cut and paste is a privilege, not a right.)
RGB DVD behind-the-scenes
Paul over at Spook Central has a gallery of 97 (!) photos Jame “Cereal Geek” Eatock took during the making of the bonus materials for the Time-Life Real Ghostbusters DVD set. You’ve got to see this.
New Atari dev blog and Germany peeps next-gen Janine!
First up, there’s a new dev blog post at Atari’s IGN Ghostbusters blog – entitled Proving It, the post covers the period just after Terminal Reality was offered the Ghostbusters license, which meant making a proof-of-concept. The post also contains my fav, the Ecto-H20, and a picture of test uniforms.
The result was a playable proof-of-concept that felt, almost eerily, just like a pivotal scene in the movie: a Ghostbuster fought and captured Slimer while brutalizing a ballroom in the Hotel Sedgewick. Everything in the room, from the three-tiered cake on the buffet table to the nondescript bottles behind the bar (they’re labeled ‘Bottle’) to the heavy crystal chandelier on the ceiling could be broken, shattered, or incinerated in blazing flames.
Meanwhile, over in Germany, gaming magazine Games Aktuell had a piece on the game, which included our first-look at Janine on the next-gen systems (tiny image below – click here for full sized scan) and a kick-ass poster! Thanks to René and Timo for the tag-team emails (also, take a moment to peep René’s GB art. Niiice.)
