Calm down, it’s not as cool as it sounds. Google announced earlier in the month that it had struck a deal with Sony and a host of other big networks to show their content on YouTube. However, in the case of Sony, viewers are redirected to Sony’s Crackle.com, which features ad-supported viewing of films and TV shows – which is awesome for Sony, they get eyeballs. It’s awesome for YouTube, as they get 50% of the ad revenue on each redirect viewing, plus they don’t have to pay for the bandwidth. It sucks for anybody outside the US, as Crackle filters by IP geolocation.
