Sony and YouTube cut deal to show Ghostbusters

Calm down, it’s not as cool as it sounds. Google announced earlier in the month that it had struck a deal with Sony and a host of other big networks to show their content on YouTube. However, in the case of Sony, viewers are redirected to Sony’s, which features ad-supported viewing of films and TV shows – which is awesome for Sony, they get eyeballs. It’s awesome for YouTube, as they get 50% of the ad revenue on each redirect viewing, plus they don’t have to pay for the bandwidth. It sucks for anybody outside the US, as Crackle filters by IP geolocation.

So… (shrug)
