Namco-Bandai, part owners of Atari’s European distribution arm since last fall, is picking up the rest and transitioning the company into their own distribution network, according to MCV. Atari has been the latest front name applied to the long-sickly Infogrames, and the speculation that last week’s surprise deal with Sony was because Atari couldn’t properly fund the production, marketing, and distribution of the Ghostbusters game world-wide appears to be true, as Atari unloads its European operations.
The new company will publish Atari titles throughout Europe until 2014, leaving the Ghostbusters release currently untouched. It is unlikely that this change alters the length of Sony’s timed exclusive. Thanks to Miles for the link.
