I manged to talk to Diamond Select a bit about their Ghostbusters the video game Minimates, and it turns out they’re not gone! Fans will be able to get them, in a limited supply, at the San Diego Comic Con, with the rest shipping to specialty stores. The sets will retail for $16.

Time to start bugging your local comic shop!

[UPDATE] The first series of Minimats have landing in comic shops, where you will also be able to buy the Amazon Minimates ghosts after SDCC, and Eric has the proof.

Glad to hear they’ll still be available. Wonder why they aren’t still and Amazon exclusive? They just missed their window I guess and Amazon doesn’t want to offer them separately?

  2. fryman86 says:

Awesome, take something that everyone had access to and sell them at SDCC, where only a select number of people can get to them! Sweet!

  3. John says:

    SDCC gets everything…bastards

  4. EctoDeath says:

Well, that still sucks. First I had to spend $120 to get them, but they were taken out of the set. Now if I want them, I have to spend 3 times that amount to go to SDCC… Lame.

  5. Dr. Venkman says:

EctoDeath, if you view it that you were paying $120 just for 4 Minimates then I think you must have enough money to go to SDCC.

The point being, all the people that are going to complain about this, saying they should’ve had first crack at them since they ordered them or that they’re owed something since they had ordered them… you’re not. You were refunded $20. You’re not owed anything anymore. They were going to be part of the set. The set changed. You were refunded the amount of money that was allotted in the cost for the Minimates.

Yes, they’re going to be a bit harder to get. But this is actually better because it makes them available to the masses who didn’t want to pay $120 for the video game with extras. Now, just about everyone will be able to afford them at about $20. The trick will be finding them. And yes, that will be a little difficult, but not impossible.

  6. ogswiss says:

prob. be able to get them on ebay for that $120 lol

  7. castewar says:

Ectodeath… they will be available through local stores after Comic Con.

And you’d be lucky to get to Comic Con for $400. :)

  8. castewar says:

I’m still catching up, reading the comments, just saw fryman’s post – did my post not make it clear that they will be available in stores after SDCC or did everyone stop reading at “in a limited supply, at the San Diego Comic Con”?

  9. Fryman86 says:

Thing is, my comic shop doesn’t carry minimates, and previews stuff is ordered two months in advance, so they’d have to make an extra order just to get them.

  10. Peter Venkman PhD says:

Any list of stores they will ship to?

  11. Senji says:

If anyone is near the southern Indiana area, Comic Quest in Evansville, IN, is officially carrying Series 1 of the regular mini-mates for $19.99. They are also sending a couple workers to San Diego Comic-Con, so I’m sure it might be possible to order some through them if you are unable to attend the convention yourself and don’t want to risk the eBay waters for a set after Comic-Con. No guarantees they’ll take the order but it never hurts to try.

  12. castewar says:

    Very helpful, thanks Ryan.

Venkman, DST is part of Diamond Distribution, so the list is essentially every comic shop.

  13. Ectoman57 says:

hi, there is proof on ghostbsuters.net forums, i should know im the guy that found them.

    third post down

  14. Deetz says:

I had to pay $19.99 instead of $15.99

  15. Ectoman57 says:

u should tell the store to check diamonds site, most stores are pretty good about that, i had to argue for a half hour to get mine at 15.99.

  16. Logo Lou says:

I would just pay more. A half hour of my time is worth more than 4 dollars.
