This little tid-bit was buzzing around since SDCC, but now it’s starting to take form – it appears IDW will be releasing a Christmas one-shot this December, so check the September or October Previews guide for pre-ordering. Your local comic shop will know what to do.
Less confirmed, but just as buzzy is that IDW is prepping to produce a monthly Ghostbusters title in 2010. So, stay tuned to see if that gets confirmed as true.
From the blog of Chris Ryall (publisher and editor-in-chief for IDW);
Actually, if you just visit your comic shop once in December, you’ll be able to get your hands on a GHOSTBUSTERS holiday special we’re doing. PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE is the name of the one-shot, and in it, the GBers go up against… a ghost of Christmas past, present, and… well, you know. Are these the actual Dickens ghosts? Mmmmaybe, but you’ll need to read to find out for sure.
The book’s written by Rob Williams (Indiana Jones, SFX magazine) and drawn by Diego Jourdan (ASTRO BOY), who is also doing a cover. Pictured here, however, is Nick Runge’s Dickensian image, along with a variant Rockwell-inspired image also by Runge.
I figure, the stores will soon be displaying Christmas decorations, so it’s never too early to also talk about comics shipping at the end of the year…

Real Ghostbusters did it… (If they’re going in the direction I think they are…)
WooHoo New GB Christmas Wallpaper!
Awesomeness has ensued!
Wow — as an English teacher who loves Dickens and “A Christmas Carol,” and who is also a Ghosthead, this is news that makes me want to pull a Fezziwig and dance the Roger de Coverly!
is it just me or does the slimer in the cover look like the slimer from the 88 mph studios comic?
I’m with you Bryan.
Wasn’t there an episode of RGB where they encountered the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. And in doing so they changed history and Scrooge was somehow a big part of the present when they got back and had to fix it, right?
yeah, since Real Ghostbusters already did the Dickens thing, I hope they at least reference it. Like it’s a revisit for them or something.
Ares is right but I’d still pick this up in spite of what appears to be another RGB ripoff.
my only wish is that would have tried to at least acquire the actors’ likenesses (although Nick Runges’ Winston always looks exactly like Ernie Hudson)… if it can’t be the movie’s stars, then it might as well be the “Real Ghostbusters” then…
tis the season to be afraid of no ghost.
Love the second piece of art. Very Norman “Rockwell-ish”!
Dur!!! That’s what it’s supposed to be…didn’t notice the circle ‘n lines and the NR sig to the right. And to think my grandfather collects Norman Rockwell…lol!
I wonder there’s going to any homages to another Bill Murray movie, Scrooged. Come to think of it the lady at the left reminds me of Carol Kane from Scrooged.
swipe file!

I don’t mind that much if they don’t have the actor’s likenesses, as long as they are able to capture the character’s essence. In fact, most comic books based on television or movie franchises that try to stick too close to the photographic reference so the character’s look as much as the actors as possible, end up looking a little too stiff.
What I’m more interested to find out is if IDW has learned from their mistakes, and incorporate more comedy to their Ghostbusters work.
Those covers look great, I must say.

Good find, Mr. Sandman. The artist of the group cover totally nicked that pic of Scrooge as the reference for his Scrooge in the cover.
