Toy Fair 2010: How would you like to own the GB firehall sign? [UPDATE]

You know the sign hanging outside the firehall? How would you like one at, approximately, half-scale? Maybe more like near full scale?

Geek Week spotted this little puppy at the Diamond Select Toys booth.

No final details on size and price, but for now it’s “big” and “a lot.” Stay tuned!

Thanks to Gordon for the heads up!

[UPDATE] Gordon filled us in with some more details below – there will be a small scale and a 1:1 scale version.

popculturenetwork.com had a look at it as well, apparently, and discussed it in their latest podcast. It’s a little confusing, but if they are talking about the sign, not the neon, they’re talking $150 as a price point. Thanks to MK87 for that.

    Do want, yes please.

  2. gbmickey says:

wow! me too, but how big is this? full scale maybe? i think half scale would be ok :-)

  3. BGSchoolcraft says:

    I want it.

  4. Polkanator says:

I’ve been talking with companies that make signs. They wanted INSANE ammounts of money to make them. Just 1 would never be in the realm for most people. This is at least a shot for us to get one and mount it on the garage, the study, or in the bedroom (What better way to get the other in a mood eh?)

  5. Gareee says:

With all the shell vacuformers in the hobby, you’d think someone woulda decided to make something different like this by now.

  6. Simon Bergeron says:

    Yes, have some!

  7. Anthony says:

    Want. Own. Broke. Need.

  8. randy says:

ok, so one for the garage, one for the kitchen, one for the living room, one for the bedroom, one for the hallway….hmmm, might need a 3rd job for this one…..

  9. Matt R. says:

My heart wants it to be full scale, but my wallet wants it to be half scale or smaller.

  10. Jimbo says:

you dont think its too subtle marty? you dont think people are gonna drive down and not see the sign?

Yea would definitely have to have one of these…now just have to find a place to make into my own firehall.

  11. roborob says:

Ohhh, that would look cool Hanging on my porch during the month of Halloween…however, I’d have to mount it up high so it wouldn’t get stolen, lol.

  12. AJ Quick says:

This one might actually cost more than the Neon sign!

  13. Ben King says:

Garee, Umori has got a Firehouse sign in development, but it is a long, on-going project.

I so want one of those, hoping… probably despite reality, that it’s affordable.

How many Ghostbusters does it take to change a lightbulb?

  15. shodanmark says:

You don’t think people are going to go past and not see the sign?

  16. Groschopf says:

    Me want!

I keep thinking about making an attempt at my own sign, but I’ve not gotten past the reference stage. I can’t seem to find many photos of the original sign.

  17. Kale says:

If it’s wall mountable I will buy one in a heart beat.

  18. MK87 says:

Guys, I was listening to a podcast over at popculturenetwork.com and they were talking about this sign. A few of those guys were at the Toyfair this past week. One of them is a retailer and tells the story of how he bought one of these. He said Diamond told him it retails for $150. You can listen to it here to listen for yourself -http://popculturenetwork.com/article.php?story=20100217161212474 – He talks about it at 33:33. I am pretty sure they aren’t referring to the neon sign.

  19. Gordon says:

The pic is dark, but those bars to the right are in fact a wall mount. They said there was going to be a small one and a to-scale one.

  20. Gordon says:

    Sorry, to the left.

  21. Ska_Rob_916 says:

SWEET! I’ll fork out that much for a 1:1 scale! Please keep us posted when they go on sale! :)

  22. Gbfan4life says:

yea its full scale idiots look at the box next to it!

  23. Trotski IS a demi god! says:

Elwood: “The light was yellow, sir.”

  24. nosllit says:

I like it but the cheerio mouth is bothering me a little

  25. SpendusWorks says:

Is it just me or does this sign look one sided, not two sided like the movie? Maybe then it won’t be too much $$ after all.

  26. GBStantz says:

    I want.

  27. MK87 says:

After posting info here about the sign I went back to the forums at popculturenetwork and posted a question to clarify which sign was being referred to in the podcast. The guy whose voice you heard talking about buying the sign, Killen, was nice enough to respond and said that this was indeed the sign he was talking about, not the neon sign. He also said he will post pictures soon.

“Is it just me or does this sign look one sided?”

    Ah, you’re just being biased.

  29. Zander says:

    do want!

Is it me…or is one of the fingertips on his hand broken?

  30. Gordon says:

It’s not you, Zander. The hand on the prototype was broken.

  31. Troy says:

    Consider the 1:1 version purchased.
