New Ecto-1 t-shirt at Shirt City

There are two things you need to understand – the dam has broke and there will be no end of Ghostbusters inspired t-shirts. This is a good thing. Also, “Shirt City” is a tongue twister – say it three times fast. Go ahead.

Shirt City has a variety of movie and TV inspired t-shirts, many revolving around beloved cars, so it should be no surprise to find the Ecto-1 in there somewhere. The shirt comes in a variety of colours, though the print uses the shirt colour as its black, so unless it’s on a dark or black t-shirt, it looks a little odd. Still, as boring black tees go, this is pretty awesome.

Thanks to Tim, who posted this over at Dan and James’s Ghostbusters rejected pitch page.

Wie ga je bellen? Spokenjagers!

Geocacher Frogfoot1 has registered an official, Ghostbusters-themed geocache with Geocaching.com – I’m not certain what specifically is Ghostbusters about it, other than the creator’s insistence that it is, but that it’s designed as a spooky hunt in a dark woods for kids and their parents, I’m all for it.

The cache is in Belgium and states the following (paraphrased);

The intention is for you to take on the role of a ghost-hunter, and the forest is indeed full of ghosts.
Thanks to a good tip, we have the hiding place of a scary ghost.
But do not expect you will find it quickly!
Ghostbusters will be needed!

If anyone in Belgium is going to take a stab at finding it and wants to take along some Proton Charging buttons as non-trackable prizes for hunters, email me.

Anybody know of any other Ghostbusters themed caches?

World's first (arguably) laser-engraved iPad – Ghostbusters style!

iPad News Tracker posted an interview today with Marcos Payan (with Fusion Of Ideas, the chain that laser-engraves in store), who was a first-adopter of the new Apple iPad who needed to distinguish his pad from others soon to arrive around his place of work. His solution was to have it laser-engraved with Peter, Ray, and Egon, as well as the Ghostbusters logo.

FOI: What did you have laser engraved onto your iPad?

MP: I had the three original Ghostbusters and the Ghostbuster logo engraved on the back of my iPad. Film has always been a passion of mine and the one film that I’ve latched onto the most growing up was the original Ghostbusters. That was the movie I watched over and over as a kid and really, it is the film that inspired me to take up film-making in the first place. I can still watch that movie over and over again (notice the ghost in the logo isn’t holding two fingers up. I pretend the second movie never even happened). I was lucky enough to meet Harold Ramis some years ago and he was kind enough to spend about twenty minutes with me talking about Ghostbusters and the industry in general. At that time I had nothing for him to sign and this was before cell phones had cameras on them as a standard. Now my goal is to get each of the Ghostbusters to sign the back of my iPad. Not exactly sure how I will make that happen …

Marcos Payan… we salute you!

Thanks to Hayden for the heads up.

Facebook and Reddit!

Two things of note – first off Chris M dropped me a note to say that after years of disuse, he now has admin control of Reddit’s Ghostbusters channel – Reddit is one of the options in the AddThis button at the bottom of all Proton Charging posts. If you’re a Reddit user, please feel free to use the channel to help promote Ghostbusters news online!

Also, after careful thought (meaning, I never thought about it until now), I’ve created a Facebook page for Proton Charging, so those that prefer it, can monitor PC news without having to leave FB. Friend the website so I know you’re out there!

Red Fly Ghostbusters Wii post-mortem – Austin, TX, April 22nd

Anyone that lives in and around the Austin area – primarily members of the IGDA (International Game Developers Association), but they may well be welcoming fresh faces – can meet up with Mike McShaffry and Dustin Dobson of Red Fly Studios to hoist a beer and talk about the making of their Wii version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

IGDA-Austin’s Official April Event:
Ghostbusters Wii: The Post-DeathMortem
Presented by Mike McShaffry and Dustin Dobson of Red Fly Studios

In January of 2007, three accomplished artists and one designer set out to carve a niche for themselves in the lonely city of Austin. This was a time of strife within the games industry when giants all around this noble city were falling and being crushed under their own weight. Two years later, Red Fly would become one of the leading third party developers within the Austin games industry. Ghostbusters on the Wii was pivotal to this new established identity for the studio and its body of approximately 80 employees.

This is the origin story… of a haunted game…. and the takeaways from its development that will shatter your soul!
