Congrats to the gang at Rainmaker (a couple of whom I was lucky enough to meet last year at a Vancouver screening) for snagging a Canadian Video Game Award for Best Cinematics – Rainmaker was responsible for all of the between mission movie cinematics (and even a few that didn’t make it into the final game.)

I was under the impression that Rainmaker only did the cinematics and not the in-game cut-scenes [think Peter, Ray, and the Rookie in the elevator; or alternatively when Jock is introduced and appoints Peck to oversee the boys]…

Well it’s good that the Ghostbusters game gets more recognition. I am kind of surprised, however. I felt a lot of the cinematics were awkward and poorly paced, definitely the weakest part of the game. Just one man’s opinion. I mean, the example video above is great, but they’re not all like that.

Good for them! It’s nice to see Rainmaker can still kick ass even after going from Mainframe Entertainment to this new enterprise.

Now, does this mean they’ll get off their butts and start working on the new ReBoot series?

Yes, they only did the cinematics, as above, not the in-engine cutscenes mid-mission (or, if mission is confusing the issue, mid-chapter.)
