Mattypalooza, a Mattel specific panel to show off what they’ve got coming next for all their licensed toy lines, was today and video have started appearing online. This one is the clip that features the Ghostbusters license and their reveals for the upcoming year;

Mattel rolled out prototypes of 6″ (5.5″ in reality) Louis, Courtroom Peter, as well as sweet accessories coming with future releases of 12″ figs (most likely the ones they said they’re re-release – the cool new accessories explain how they’re going to make them attractive to collectors who bought the first figs) – GB1 and GB2 jumpsuits, road-work/subway exploring gear, SLIMER THROWERS, TERROR DOGS,cameras, boomboxes, DANCING TOASTERS, and more!
I just realized, the Terror Dog head is not for a figure, but is the statue “Who turned out the lights” head piece for Louis. Bloody hell.
Nothing is too arcane for the accessories, as they’re even showing off the prototype of what looks like Ray and Egon’s glass jar of pop-corn from the interview with Dana.

Well, I sure am going to go broke next year. I can only imagine that the ecto goggles are next after the PKE. Anyone think for a few hundred they will build a proton pack?

I’d bet on the trap, but not the pack. They may surprise us, but that’s a big chunk of plastic and lights, with a considerable price point potential. We’ll see.
Ecto-goggles are a good bet too, I think.

A 12″ two pack? Crazy. I might have to pass on that, although a 12″ slime blower is VERY tempting. Courtroom Peter with Nunzio and a Louis w/multiple heads is something I only dreamed about. Sooooo glad I joined the club.
I doubt I’ll be able to afford all this, but it’s great news for the franchise. The figures must be selling really well for Mattel to put out this whole new line up like that. And while they’ll be pricey, the line just can’t be considered complete without a 6″ Ecto-1 and full scale Proton Pack prop replica; let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Man Ecto-Goggles prop replicas would be awesome! For the Proton Pack replica, I would think that if sells continue to be strong they would make the packs, come on if they sold even for 400 that’s still cheaper then Ebay, I would buy one. What do you guys think?
I’d be shocked to see the packs, but the PKE meter was unexpected, too. My vote for the next prop would be goggles, then a trap.

By the way, Master Replicas is now a UK company called Factory Entertainment. The FE “About Us” page says that “Factory Entertainment was formed in 2009 by several industry veterans for the purpose of designing, creating and marketing licensed toys and collectibles based on motion pictures, television shows, recording artists and other popular culture icons.” So, apparently it’s an entirely new company formed from the ashes of MR, and not simply a renaming. The old MR site now redirects to the FE site, so that indicates some type of relationship to the former company.
so what is the first figure for club ecto 1? Is it ray in aug or winston in jan?
Really like courtroom pete and gb2 winston if the 12″ 2 pack is $120 then will go for it. Late Xmas prezzie. Although sone sites are saying they are $160
Oh and if anyone can get me the gb2 4 pack I would be very very greatful. I hate living in the uk !
The one video for matty said the pke meter and the 4 pack of gb 2 figures arent gonna be out till holiday 2011. Unless i read it wrong.

If I had money to burn and enough space I’d collect all of these toys just as I did in the 80s. I’d like to have all of these things, including the stuff I used to own, but it just isn’t practical for me anymore.
I think the popcorn jar actually comes with Louis (remember how he was sniffing it?). I also spotted a pizza slice for face rubbing!

The 4-pack will pretty much be nearly exact remolds of the GB1 figures, except with the GB2 color scheme, so costs to produce it will be lower. And it’s going to be sold at TRU, so could you honestly expect that an $80 price point for it would have any mass-market appeal?
I wonder if Mattel will make an Ecto 1 or firehouse.
I’m glad they finally got some being made available for Toys R’ Us!! I got my eye set on the GB2 4 pack. “On this day of darkness, it will be” MINE!!! ALL MINE!! Well, plus whoever elese buys one, but I don’t know any other GB fans (at least not locally, like visits-to-their-house-to-see-their-toy-collection etc.), so…anyway…I’m also glad their finally getting a roll on the line. That list is probably bigger than what they’ve produced all together and it only goes up to May. A Winston w/ Slime blower would be AWESOME! I always liked the visuals in GB2 better than GB1, although for some reason it’s just not as entertaining as the 1st, which is why I don’t watch it as often. But if you took several frames from GB2 and compared them to frames from GB1, from a purely superficial perspective, GB2 has better visuals, IMO. So I guess since I haven’t bought any of the GB1 figures, I can at least collect all 4 GB2 figs. I was really considering getting the 6″ Peter Venkman, but I was like “well, I don’t have the other 3 figures…”, so I just let it pass. But anyway, this is just EXCITING!!
I’ve been thinking about it, and wonder: am I the only one who considers it ridiculous that the best pack-in that they could come up with for Egon was a stack of books? I could think of at least a dozen better pack-ins than that.
I wonder if any of the gb2 figure accesories will be the electrode headsets that Ray and Egon where to make the slime nice, or even the jar of slime for that matter. And yeah Egon could have loads of different accesories other than a stack of books. He could have Tobins spirit guide, he could have a little calculator or a stethescope or even a giga meter. A jar of mould, a chocolate bar, this list could go on all day, same for the other characters too, which is why i cant wait to see where they take this toyline.
I wonder if they’ll release Ted and Annette Fleming?

Lol if they had Ted and Annette then they would pretty much have to make everyone by the end of it all. The girl that Louis dances with, The guy with the cold that (maybe) ends up as Danas husband. The guy that asks them if they are cosmonauts or the hotel manager. The Mayor and the Priest, the guy who says the walls are bleeding, the cop who is dropping off, the cop who has seen every form of combustion, the cop who calls peck a pencil neck. It could go on forever, you could re create ghostbusters entirely with figures.
Make and they will buy!
