Sorry, front page readers – you’ll have to read the full article see Winston. I just couldn’t make him fit in a horizontal banner.

IDW sent over this first look at the first cover of the first issue for IDW’s monthly Ghostbusters series, starting in September. If you haven’t spoken to your local comic shop about bringing this in for you yet, you should! Cover by Dan Schoening and colorist Luis Antonio Delgado (both of whom, according to IDW, will also be handling interiors for the new ongoing series which hits stores in September 2011.)

  1. Zane DeGaine says:

Not a fan of the pistol. I always thought of the neutrona wand/ particle thrower as being more like a fishing pole/ lasso than a gun. Here, its portrayed as a gun. Other than that, looks great.

  2. GhstbstrLMLIII says:

So we’re post GBII and they’ve kept the Proton Pistol from Infestation. The art looks great. I can’t wait for this!

  3. BeastieRunner says:

Who’s the writer? That is almost more important than the art …

  4. GhstbstrLMLIII says:

Last we heard it was going to be Erik (Sorry I forget the last name) – who wrote the Infestation story, and Tristan Jones is doing something, we’re just not sure exactly what yet.

  5. Chad says:

Looking good! Seems like Dan is paying homage to the Real Ghostbusters illustration that happened to be on many a lunch box.

  6. Logo Lou says:

    Absolutely beautiful!

The writer has me worried, but at least the art will finally be great and consistent.

  7. Anthony says:

    Such good art.. drool

  8. castewar says:

…and poster, and TV tray, and puzzle box. Dan has visited this idea before, though not as closely as on the comic cover.

  9. Erik Burnham says:

    You’re right to worry. I’m completely and totally insane.(;

  10. enygma12000 says:

Yeah. It does remind me of the old Real Ghostbusters promo art.

    It looks so AWESOME!

I’m really looking forward to this.

  11. GhstbstrLMLIII says:

Erik, if it’s your insanity that worked so well for the Infestation writing, I have no doubt that the property is in great hands.

  12. Buster Brad says:

My comic shop has ANYTHING GHOSTBUSTERS on the top of my pull sheet! Erik great job on Infestation and looking forward to what Dan and you cook up! If I can have one request it would be to include stories with some of the Kenner RGB toy ghosts! I’ve seen Dans work and would LOVE to see Bad to the Bone, H2O ghost or Pull Speed A-head in one of your insain stories! BIG FAN all the way around best of luck with sales and I will be doing my part as a consumer!

  13. sticks says:

Love the throw back to the RGB picture

  14. Chris says:

The throwback to the RGB works so well, I love it too!!! I dig the pistol, I like the idea of the packs constantly evolving and upgrading. I love what they did with the packs I’m the video game and wouldn’t mind that being incorporated into the comics (like the built-in slime blower). I trust that the comic is in good hands, both Dan and Eric have proven to me at least to have the chops a well as the knowledge and respect of the source material. I’m so psyched for this book!!!!!!

  15. Chris says:

Btw, does anyone know if IDW will still be putting out one-shots and minis after the ongoing come out? I hope so…

  16. BeastieRunner says:

@Erik (spell it right people), will it have story arcs or will they be classic done-in-one issues?

  17. Erik Burnham says:

I’m looking to do a mix of both arcs and done-in-ones over the course of things. (:

  18. Jin says:

I agree with what BeastieRunner said, the writer IS almost ALWAYS more important than the artist. I would to see great art like this go to waste on stories that are mediocre at best, sad thing is that today poor quality American comics are common place, as most have great stories and terrible art, great art and a terrible story, or worst case scenario both the art and story are bad, it is very rarely you see both the art and story are done well. I really hope this turns out good, because it would be so awesome to have a GB comic worth reading every month.

  19. Erik Burnham says:

Well, Jin, best I can tell you is that there is no lack of enthusiasm on the part of the creative team. So at the very least, you can’t say we don’t care. We can’t always do everything we want and have to tap dance around that kinda stuff, but the enthusiasm remains. lol.

  20. Psyniac says:

Will probably have to find a place online that ships all the way to the UK because I doubt my “local” comic shop will get in in even if I ask :(

  21. this post is quoted by Wieder da: Ghostbusters « Ein Comic Leben says:

[...] Informationen sammelt fleißig Proton Charging unter anderem kann man dort auch schon das Cover für die erste Ausgabe [...]
