Kotobukiya sends over gallery of final Lucy pics.

Don’t forget, if you’re interested in owning the figure, you can pre-order it from GBFans.com. GBFans is selling them for $59.99, which is very likely on the low end of the SRP scale (meaning, you’ll find most other places will mark up higher than that), and is listed for an August 31st, 2011 release (Kotobukiya is only saying August 2011 so far, but AJ, being a buyer, likely has the skinny of ship date.)

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! The Ghostbusters, New York’s very own paranormal investigators, are back in the headlines and this time around they have a new recruit, Lucy. This Ghostbuster-in-training is determined not to let any spook, specter or ghost get past her and she has the equipment to back her up. Outfitted in Egon Spengler’s proprietary Proton Pack and Ecto Goggles, she is truly a slime-eradicating force to be reckoned with!

Standing triumphantly over a ghost trap after bagging her latest catch, Lucy lets loose a smile of satisfaction over another job well done. She rests the wand of her proton pack on her left shoulder while her other hand sits calmly at her exposed hip. Her uniform has definitely seen better days as her pants are torn and tattered from this recent spectral encounter. The standard issue Proton Pack has thankfully remained unscathed exhibiting incredibly sculpted details such as the power cell, crank generator and Cyclotron.

Ghostbuster Lucy is the latest entry to the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) collection based on an original character design by master illustrator, Shunya Yamashita. Sculpted by Masahiro “Gill Gill” Takahashi, she stands nearly 9 ½ inches tall (in 1/7th scale) atop a specially designed base uniquely accented with a manhole cover donning the Ghostbuster logo. When supernatural activity is afoot, this is the gal you want to call!

I miss Real Ghostbusters cereal. And so does this guy.

Starting mid-May, the Louisiana Ghostbusters will start taking submissions for their first Ghostbusters fan film awards, The Golden Ghost Awards AKA The Ghosties (You can read up on their site, but here are the basics;

Purpose of the Contest: Louisiana Ghostbusters wishes to foster interest and recognition for fans of Ghostbusters who have committed their passion, dedication, and fandom to produce some of the best fan films available in any franchise or genre.

Shout out to Chicago Meter Maid who makes it a mission to plaster every parking meter in sight with a bit of pop-culture. In this case, he’s reserved a space for The Form Of The Destructor. Check out the Maid’s Flickr account for more pics.

Gozer costume up for sale.

Readers will recall a year back, when Steven Kirk discovered the original Gozer costume hanging on a lonely rack of unknown costumes. Originally he spoke of restoring it, but it looks like he’s opted to sell it, as it’s the one and only Ghostbusters item in the upcoming Profiles in History auction.

1129. SLAVITZA JOVAN “GOZER” COSTUME FROM GHOSTBUSTERS. (Columbia, 1984) Slavitza Jovan’s hero screen-worn “Gozer” costume from the thrilling climaz of the film. “Gozer”
struts out of the temple appearing before the Ghost Busters and uttering the famous line, “…Are you a God?” This beautiful costume consists of a custom-made nude bodystocking with integral mesh covered high heel shoes. Completely covered in vacuformed plastic bubbles ranging from ½ in. to 1 in. diameter, plastic and glass jewels and filament angel hair. This impressively made costume piece truly appears to be from another parallel
dimension! $8,000 – $12,000

Thanks to Ed Hartman for the heads up. The full-size image as it appears in the auction catalogue PDF is below. A quick look and it’s easy to confirm it’s the same costume Kirk found, which in turn was visually confirmed to be from the film. I’ve created a gallery of pictures of the costume on Facebook.

New IDW monthly teaser – project team revealed.

IDW has sent out a new teaser poster for their upcoming Ghostbusters monthly (coming this September) – and unlike the last teaser, this one has the project credits at the top. Most of these guys have at one time or another done different jobs in the industry, but I’m taking a totally unofficial, unconfirmed stab at who’s doing what (with one exception.)

WRITER
Erik Burnham – writer on Ghostbusters: Infestation.
ART
Dapper Dan Schoening – artist of note
COLOUR
Luis Antonio Delgado – colorist on Ghostbusters: Infestation.
EDITOR
Tom Waltz – editor.
???
Tristan Jones – A nice surprise, for those that are familiar with Jones’ other comic work (TMNT), his art contributions to Cereal Geek, and his ongoing, spec Tobin’s Spirit guide over at GBFans. His part in the monthly comic is harder to speculate than the others. Back-up stories? Do the writers/artists alternate? Are they going to run his Tobin’s creature files? (shrug)

Sadly (and speaking of Cereal Geek Magazine), this highlights an omission, that of James Eatock, who, with Schoening, pitched themselves to IDW, were turned down, and then grassrooted themselves into a back-up holiday story in the IDW Ghostbusters TPB collection of their Ghostbusters issues.

Making a Kenner PKE meter more awesome, and chess a thing of beauty.

Couple of quick things – big thanks to Tay for sending me this link to Dalbyspook’s refurbished Kenner PKE meter toy. The finished product is below, but you really should check out his work-in-progress photos, to see the entire process. He even refurbished a Kenner Ghost Trap!

Also, GBMax, over at GB Mania, has posted a couple of takes on some potential Ghostbusters inspired chess sets – I’m partial to the green set, though the more I look at it, the more I see a couple of differences I’d personally make. Have a look at both sets here, but have a look at the green set below, then I’ll outline what’s buzzing in my brain.

As much as I like putting in as many pieces of Ghostbusters equipment as possible, I think one piece of chess tradition has been overlooked – The Rooks, traditionally a tower, should totally be the Firehall. Given the unique movement of the Knight, I would make both pieces the Ecto-1. It’s true, the trap is lost, as are the logos, but these are just suggestions – I’d buy a set, regardless.
