Firefighters and citizens to march on June 3rd to save firestations.

Their Facebook event listing is here.

Friday, June 3 · 10:30am – 1:30pm

On Friday, June 3 beginning at 11:00 a.m. officials of the Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA), Uniformed Fire Officers Association (UFOA), New York City Firefighters, community leaders, citizens and elected officials will march across the Brooklyn Bridge to protest Mayor Bloomberg’s plan to close 20 fire companies.

They will then hold a major Save the Fire Companies rally in City Hall Park (Broadway side) beginning at 11:45 a.m., with speeches by various political and union officials. Come on down and March Across the Brooklyn Bridge to protest Mayor Bloombergs insane plan.

Planking makes me feel good.

I’ll be out of my office for part of tomorrow, so consider this an early Just Because It’s Friday.

In the last couple of weeks “planking” kept hitting my radar, but no good explanation was forthcoming, so I looked it up.

Which immediately lead to a thought. Which lead to photoshop. Enjoy!

Casting news a rehash of November non-starter

A listing for Ghostbusters 3 casting is making the rounds – before you get too excited, the solicitation for GB3 extras is the same page that made a small noise back in November. And I mean the EXTACT same page. Here’s Proton Charging’s coverage from last year, including Entertainment Weekly’s news that they had contacted Anna Farris’ representation and she was not up for the role.

That link to the casting page is the same page making the rounds today – they changed the date on the top of the page to May 23rd, but the page link still contains the 2010/11 (november 2010) date.

Nothing came of the last call and no official announcement was made to confirm it. It remains a slim possibility that it was legit and stalled, and this is just the same process starting up again, but for now, it’s a giant question mark.

IDW reveals GB monthly to have Nick Runge variants – explains theme

IDW Honcho in Chief, Chris Ryall, has posted a look at the variant cover for the first issue of the monthly Ghostbusters comic – coming this September – by artist Nick Runge. Nick has contributed covers to previous Ghostbusters comics, including Con-Volution, Past, Present, and Future, and… well, all of them, I think.

Ryall also explained that the covers will have a theme, with each variant cover paying homage to classic album covers – the first is modeled, loosely, after the KISS Destroyer album.

For our coming GHOSTBUSTERS series — starting in September — artist Nick Runge will be doing a variant cover for each issue that pays tribute to classic album art. Up first is this little “Kings of the Nighttime World” tribute to Ken Kelly‘s classic painting from 1976…
