Michael McKean read for Louis Tully?

People ask, why are you so into Ghostbusters? And I tell them, because I find out something new about this movie all the time. This is one of those times. Rick Moranis talked about taking over the Louis Tully role after John Candy left the production and while I dared pry, he was polite enough to not talk about who else had read for the part. Turns out, we know at least one of them…

…at least, I’m pretty sure I hadn’t heard this and forgot (A real risk as the years go by.)

While chatting with Kevin Pollak on his chat show, Michael McKean (From Laverne & Shirley, Spinal Tap, and so many other awesome things) got to talking about his own turn as an interviewer and mentioned talking to Harold Ramis (which spiced things up, as Kevin’s girlfriend, who does tech and commentary on the show, is a self-confessed Harold Ramis / Egon fan.) This in turn lead to his revelation that he had met Ramis years before the interview when he read for the part of Louis in Ghostbusters.

Great interview (you can download the audio podcast version on iTunes, if you don’t want to watch the video), but if you want to cut to the chance, the Ghostbusters talk is at 1:51:00.
