A few weeks back the Ghostbusters of Alberta and the Ghostbusters of British Columbia met up at Vancouver’s VCON 36 and they invited me along to an evening con screening of Ghostbusters, during which we did nothing but talk over the entire thing, dissecting it to a crazy degree. I brought along 30ish minutes of a video clip-mix, filled with odds and ends, including a few hard-to-find bits. And, seeing as it’s Ghostbusters season, Halloween, I figure I’ll share with those of you that couldn’t make it.

You mean you had those vintage SNL bits and never told anyone?…For shame :/…It took me YEARS of searching for those, only to find them through dumb luck, and http://www.ioffer.com...

Maybe next time I’m looking for something I’ll just ask you lol…

Wow! That was great! Thanks for sharing! I had not seen “The Ghostbuster Show” with Chad Web before… pretty funny…

I wish the television version of the movie was available on DVD… I remember when spook central did the webcast of it with the commercials and everything and it was such a walk down memory lane. I would love love to have a clean version of it on DVD!!

  3. The Frood says:

Who did the version of the theme song in part two with the guys in the rgb costumes?

  4. Dan says:

okay, who the hell were those kids with the Troll hair in part 2? I honestly wanted to punch a whole through my laptop screen whenever they screamed “ghostbusters”.

But i love the clip of Jim Belushi in the Ghostbusters Show saying “replacing the original Ghostbusters?” i can see someone using that clip for a GB3 mash up. Good clips.

  5. Gus Galaxy says:

The band in part two was Hoobastank, pretty good cover! Hope they include it on the GB3 soundtrack!

  6. Gus Galaxy says:

I hated the troll hair kids too, was a bit annoying, but Jim Belushi was awesome in those clips, HE should have been a Ghostbuster as well, they should have introduced him in part two, that way they could have moved forward a lot sooner with him filling the void of Murray if he chose to walk away back then, and less stalling with continuing the franchise..

If it makes you feel better Lanny, I only recently found my copies.

And the troll haired kids were Jedward, who some may remember made a quizzical go at winning or nearly winning X-Factor in the UK. Or something. They are fans and singing Ghostbusters is a concert regular for them. That clip of them was taken from some TV bumper stuff they shot when they represented Ireland at the Eurosong contest last year, or the year before.

A clean version on future releases of the move as a third option for viewing the movie would be appreciated. I can’t tell you how many times I run from one end of the house to the other screaming “LALALALA!” or “Cover your ears!!” once I hear a part with swearing coming on. My little guys love to watch it though.

I agree about Jim Belushi being a Ghostbuster! I think they could even introduce him as one of the new characters in a third movie. Sure, he’s damn near as old as the original guys, but I think that would add some laughs!

It’s not anywhere close to DVD quality, but the version I streamed back in January 2009 is still on Spook Central.

It’s kinda funny that you mention this because Ben Stiller just said the same thing in USA Weekend magazine this past weekend.

    Very cool!

In keeping with the PKE metre sightings, people also might want to check out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Presents Operation Blue Line.

It’s terrible, but features the original Ninja Turtles voices. Watch out for the Giga Counter used by the villain.

Who did the labeling on the Pop Up Video of Ghostbusters? At 11:53 it says the celebrity is Nick Ashford. Nick Ashford was like 20 in 1984 and has been tall and lanky his entire life.

The guy on screen is fat and older. It’s actually Ollie E Brown.

      I did the videos. And?

      When they were first made, over a year ago, the common wisdom (read: Wikipedia) was that it was Nick Ashford, which I accepted, as I was not familiar with Ashford and Simpson (other than the name and hearing a few of the songs.) I’m assuming the Ollie E Brown thing is relatively new, as the Wikipedia entry for the song lists Brown, while the entry for the movie still has Ashford. Having found this image, I agree, it’s obviously Ollie (assuming Ollie is the guy on the Left);

      http://protoncharging.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/l.jpg

This makes perfect sense, as both Ollie and Jerry were very involved with Ray Parker Jr. in Raydio (Ollie as a session drummer and Jerry as a founding member.) Ollie and Jerry were also very big at the time from their hit track from Breakin’, but more importantly, Brown was a session artist on Ghostbuster with Ray Parker Jr.

Nice spot, though Nick Ashford was in he early 40s in 1984, not 20. It’s still not him in the video, but I’m just sayin’…

To win the match, I will share that in my digging around, I discovered that Ollie was a writing contributor on one of Tahiti’s tracks for The Real Ghostbusters. Thanks Spook Central! http://www.theraffon.net/~spookcentral/rgb_soundtrack01.htm

  13. Ivan says:

Thanks for sharing this! It needs the clip of Harold Ramis as “Elon” Spengler from that earth day special, the clip of Ernie Hudson as Winston on the Super Mario Super Show, and the Ghostbuster send-ups on Zombieland and Be Kind Rewind. Awesome nonetheless :D
