Club Ecto-1 members get email revealing thank you gift – Glow-In-The-Dark Slimer!

Going by a post made by the Ghostbusters of the Ozarks, it looks like Mattel has been emailing Club Ecto-1 members to let them know what their promised thank you gift will be – based on a Slimer figure produced to go along with an SDCC exclusive Egon from 2009, those holding a now defunct membership will receive a glow-in-the-dark Slimer. He’s about 2.5 inches in size and comes with a stand. As previously mentioned by Mattel, he’ll come loose in a bag, not boxed or carded.

    Gee, thanks.

Seriously, I get something that they really didn’t have to give me, and for free, so thanks Matty.

However, I can’t help but think that all us subscriber would have rather had a bag of four or five proton streams, or logo figure stands instead.

  2. I’m curious as to why it took them “12-16 months” (their exact words) to do a repaint.

Hopefully because they are working on getting the Hoverboards out before Christmas.

But I would have preferred Tony Scoleri. I already have 2 Slimers (SDCC Spengler & Slimed Venkman).

I’ve tried to explain it a few times, and nobody really wants to hear it. So, I’m not going to bother. Suffice to say, the other path they could have taken was to give out nothing, so this should count for a little (not a lot) something – more than people are giving them credit for.

Ash, Tony would have wrapped up the pair nicely, but would have cost a lot of money to produce – the Slimer was obviously picked because it was the cheapest option, and cheap was important, as they’ve said they weren’t getting their returns on the line. Even extra accessories are more expensive to make, with their paint requirements.

I hear you! Matty has had quality and production issues across ALL their lines, and I think the GB line could have been handled better in some respects. However, considering the sales and limitations inherent to the line (in terms of mass producing figures with minimum retooling costs), they did a decent job. Still, after DECADES of wishing for movie accurate figures I finally got a display case FULL of them. I’ve complained as well, but I do think they have been pretty upfront with the fans, if sometimes slow.

    Whoop de frickin doo.
