Remember back at the beginning of September I mentioned that I had it on good authority that the game was still alive, that a publisher was about to land, and that it would push the game’s release well into 2009? And remember how I said that one of the frontrunners to publish the game was Atari? Well, it’s not official until Sony speaks up, but Dan Aykroyd let the cat out of the bag on morning radio in Dallas (see Dan arriving on motorcycle here), saying that Atari would be the publisher for the Ghostbusters video game. He also cautioned that the game was still a year off because of the change of hands.

Those of you within driving distance of Wheaton, Illinois, this Wednesday is the special Ghostbusters: The Other Side launch party! There will be artist signings, screenings of the movies, screenings of The Real Ghostbusters (from the DVD set, by the sounds of it), and give-aways, including the new RGB issue of Cereal: Geek – to ensure yourself a spot at the party, sign up via MySpace or Facebook – head to Ghostbusters.net for the appropriate links.

So, yes, after a few days of looking goofy, the site backend overhaul is mostly done, and has left the layout at about 90% done. You’ll note some stuff from the sidebar is missing or looks askew – I’m working on that. But in the meantime, it’s business as usual. Thanks for your patience!

A big thanks to the hundreds of you that sent in a wild flurry of links about Bill Murray talking up Ghostbusters 3. For the most part, they either cover his City of Ember press conference comments (featured here earlier), or they covered Murray out promoting City of Ember elsewhere, but saying much the same thing. For now, we’ll just consider it the same comments as before, except for this interesting exchange with MTV;

MTV: Do you like the idea of potentially passing on to a new crop of Ghostbusters?

Murray: Well, I think it’d be funny to have a girl Ghostbuster. We don’t have a girl Ghostbuster. I mean, they say like, “What if you passed it to Chris Rock?” And I go “Well, I dunno. Is Chris Rock gonna save us?” You know, I guess. He’s funny.

MTV: You want Dana Barrett to have a proton pack — is that what you’re saying?

Murray: No, I just think there’s some funny girls I’d love to see be Ghostbusters.
