IDW has kind of spoiled us, haven't they? Compare getting eight issues eight months in a row to it taking 88MPH over a year to put out four issues of Ghostbusters: Legion

I think an extra week or two is not a big deal.

I've often wondered why Ghostbusters has never been put into the National Film Registry, while so many films that are just as popular and significant are in there... or even more recent. I mean, Fargo, really?!? But not Ghostbusters? Anyway, this is a cause I fully support and I'm glad that Adam has posted such a fantastic dissertation on the movie.

By the way, Adam also had the Hook And Ladder No. 8. site many many years ago:

It's true, as it doesn't show up on the IDW Media FTP server in the May 23rd review and preview sections. This isn't the first time an issue has been delayed by a week, and it undoubtedly won't be the last.

Not so bad, not nearly as sucking than when we had to wait for Scott Campbell's Danger Girl waaay back in 2000... we had to wait an entire year for #7... talk about delay...

Maybe Ghostbustesr #9 has print issues or delivery ones, at this stage, it's the most probable of guesses.

I still think Mattel signed on to the license in the belief that they were only a couple of years away from a big blockbuster movie they could merchandise the everloving crap out of. The Mattycollector online stuff was just supposed to be the warm-up.

Then of course, five years later, GB3 is still in the same "They'll maybe start filming next year if Bill Murray changes his mind" (if ever) status, and the line is still a niche seller so they're cutting their losses.

I think Paul's right--the property is a little more limited character-wise. You have the four characters everybody knows. A few more known supporting players (Janine, Dana, Louis, Slimer, Peck). A few enemies (Gozer, Vigo, etc), and then what? Either you start adding characters (Yeah. Look how well the Extreme Ghostbusters were embraced by the fandom) or get used to seeing Venkman, Ray, Egon, and Winston again and again. You could get a lot of ghosts if you open the cartoon to licensing, but even then, after you sell the Peoplebusters, the Anti-Ghostbusters, the Boogeyman and Sam Hain, sales are going to drop when you get to more obscure stuff like Sir Bruce Sans Piti or Professor Dweeb.

Kenner had the same problem in the 1980's--look at how their line basically ended up being weird variants of the same four to six characters; heck, they even resorted to just doing repaints at the end. They at least had a top-rated cartoon driving sales. Matty didn't.

I'm sad it came to this, but not really surprised.
