The title says it all. Sebastien Clavet of 88mph has posted that hardcover
pre-orders will end June 10th.
“The book will start shipping this summer, more details soon. We apologize for the delay but please be sure that ALL orders will be honored.”

GB giftset back cover

The backcover for the Ghostbusters DVD giftset has been revealed. Not much can be gleaned from it, other than that there are no extras on the GB2 disc (as some had hoped) and the covers mimic the box art (green goo with logos.) Which animated episodes are included isn’t listed, but both are on the GB2 disc. It also appears that both movies will be available in both widescreen and full screen. The GB2 disc was originally offered like this, with a version on each side, but the GB disc was only offered in widescreen.
From the fuzzy blurb on the back;
“…a deluxe Collector’s Scrapbook, loaded with productions notes, character sketches, insider info, and more.”
UPDATE: From Sony Customer Service;
“Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Giftset will be released in its original widescreen presentation formats. An earlier notice may have indicated that the release also included full screen versions, but that information was released prematurely.”
So, no fullscreen versions, just widescreen - no big deal, right?

The title says it all. Sebastien Clavet of 88mph has posted that hardcover pre-orders will end June 10th. The book is being made to honor these order, then it will be made no more, according to 88mph, so if you want one, better order now.

GB UMD listed

The UMD format release of Ghostbusters, due August 2nd (PSP owners take note - see below), is now officially listed on Sony’s website and at Amazon.com (for all your pre-order needs.) According to the Sony page, the disc will present GB in “widescreen”, with two channel sound (d’accord), and subtitles for French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai. “Widescreen” is in quotes, as the film was originally presented in CinemaScope (2.35:1) and the PSP has a 16:9 screen ratio, which suggests that while the UMD version won’t be as badly cropped as full-screen video versions, it won’t have the whole frame as it’s presented in the DVD versions. Let’s hope not, but with a screen that small, shrinking the height of the movie isn’t much of an option.
There also seems to be some confusion between Sony’s press release SLP of $11.59US and Amazon’s SLP of $19.95US (with their “savings” you can buy it for $14.96.) Given that Sony released an SLP of $19.94US for the upcoming DVD gift set (see below), perhaps Amazon is just confused. Time will tell, stay tuned.

GB soundtrack re-issued

This one slipped by quietly, but on April 26th, the Ghostbuster soundtrack was re-issued on CD by Collectables Records (not by BMG, who issued it in 1984.) The SLP through online retailers, like Amazon is $13.98, but a mere $7.98 through CR’s online store (actually, less than that, with their discount. It should also be available at your local record shop - if not, ask them to bring it in.
