“What did you do, Ray?”

Posted on October 28, 2005

Well, Halloween is here and ghostheads put on their best - this year, two geniuses thought to one-up the growing ranks of Ghostbusters in full gear, but moving up to the ghost catagory. Specifically, Mr. Stay-Puft. Well done to Dr. J of GB Detroit and Brian B!

Have a happy and safe Halloween and I expect to see pictures on Tuesday!

Ghosthead Pioneer

Posted on October 27, 2005

It’s one thing to see Ghostbusters as a kid and grow up to make prop proton packs, run around in a jumpsuit, or try and make your own Ecto-1. But when you’re already a grown-up when the movie comes out, and you do the same things, thank makes you one special fan. Like David, and his ‘84 attempt at an Ecto-1, prop pack, and costume. Because, what else are you going to do on Hawaii?

Halloween weekend - what to watch?

Posted on October 25, 2005

OK, so, Halloween is on a Monday - that means there’s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday worth of Halloween fun. But you can’t watch Ghostbusters over and over (OK, you CAN, but why not try something a little different?) - so what else is out there to watch? Rotten Tomatoes has some suggestions for you, starting with Ghostbusters (’natch.)

Aykroyd on Nights with Alice Cooper

Posted on October 22, 2005

This Wednesday, October 26th, as part of his 6 Nights of Fright, Alice Cooper will have Dan Ayrkoyd in the studio to chat a bit. I wasn’t aware that Cooper had a radio show, but there you have it. You can find out if Nights with Alice Cooper is playing on the radio in your area at the show’s official website. Don’t worry if you miss it though, as you can download the show later as a podcast - in fact, Dan was on the show the same time last year. Check it out! He talks a lot about his Grandfather, who was a spiritualist.

Ghostrider v. Ghostbusters

Posted on October 22, 2005

Buzzscope.com has formalized the old idea of comic fans playing Who Would Win, by setting up regular matches - readers then go to their message forums and sound of on who they think would win in a fight, and why. Appropriately for October, they’ve squared The Boys in Grey off against Marvel Comic’s spirit of vengence, Ghostrider. What really makes it is the art by Chris Moreno.

Since some of you asked, at long last, I’ve converted the EGB theme music from Real Audio to MP3.

Aykroyd meets everybody but me

Posted on October 20, 2005

Dan Aykroyd was in Calgary this past week to participate in a charity bike rally, promote tequila, and shovel everyone’s drive-way. As a result, everyone but me got to meet Dan Aykroyd. Yes, I’m sulking about it. Two of my pals, Cory and Jody (above) stood in line to see him and word has it that he was “signing everything.” As usual, Ayrkoyd is a good sport with all his fans. Thanks for the pic, Cory.

Teletoon RGB says they’ve got new episodes

Posted on October 18, 2005

After a huge delay, Teletoon got back to cartoon maven Toren about the episodes of RGB they’ll be showing, starting tomorrow. When they got back to me, they didn’t know much of anything. But now they say that they’re showing new episodes (new, as in compared to the episodes they’ve had for a long while now.)

Here’s the episode list, from their website;

The Man Who Never reached Home
The Collect Call of Cathulhu
Bustman’s Holiday
The Headless Motercyclist
The Thing in Mrs. Faversham’s Attic
Egon on a Rampage
Lights! Camera! Haunting!
The Bird of Kildarby
Janine Melnitz, Ghostbuster
Apocalypse, What Now?
Lost and Foundry
Hark Knight’s Day
Cold Cash and Hot Water
The Scaring of the Green
They Call Me Mister Slimer
Last Train to Oblivion
Masquerade
Janine’s Day Off
The Devil in the Deep
Fright at the OK Corral
Ghostbusters of the Year
Deadcon
The Cabinet of Calamari
A Ghost Grows in Brooklyn
The Revenge of Murray the Mantis

That’s 25 episodes, but the Halloween run only has 16 episodes scheduled. So, who knows which ones are showing. Maybe they’ll run more in November.

Another GB screening

Posted on October 15, 2005

It’s October, so the theatrical screenings of Ghostbusters are increasing. I’ll let Chris Gates fill in the details;

“The Golden State Theater in downtown Monterey, California is doing screenings Monday, the 17th through Thursday the 20th. That’s four shows. 8:00 each night, admission is $8. More info at www.goldenstatetheatre.com.”

Don’t miss it - and keep an eye out for Bryan Fear and Co. Those guys tend to show up at all the California screenings. And if you’re quick enough, Young Frankenstein is playing tonight and tomorrow. The original The Haunting is later this month (another worthy viewing.)

GB2 showing in New York

Posted on October 13, 2005

Loews theater is showing scary movies all October and starting today, Thursday the 13th, they will be showing Ghostbusters 2. That’s right, not 1, but 2. The second movie.

Better yet, you can enter to win free tickets - short notice, I know, but I’m not in New York.
