GB hardcover not dead, just in a coma.

Posted on January 31, 2006

Just got an email from 88mph on the situation of the long delayed hardcover edition of Ghostbusters: Legion.

Hello Everyone!

Long time no “talk”, mea culpa as they say.

Mistakes were done, lessons were learned and here we are.

First off, the Hard Cover situation. The only reason why it is impossibly delayed (not canceled) is caused by a low ordering versus a high printing cost. Now is it fans fault ? Hell no. Is it my fault ? Who else really, so yes.

I probably should have done it in soft cover first, maybe I should have done more advertizing, I should have done more of this and less of that. At the end of the day what is important to know is when do you get your copy.

The only way for me to compensate for the low ordering is to finance the difference myself, hence making this process very slow. However there is something you the fans can do to help out by simply letting me know about a few things. I will post polls tonight and just let me know what you think about various things.

Polls will be posted in the Literature section of http://www.weaverhall.com

Again I apologize for the aggravation this is causing everyone but I can say that there is not one day that I don’t work on solving this unfortunate delay. Apologizing does not absolve all my sins, I realize that but I hope you will all participate in the polls which will definitely help.

Mistakes were done, lessons were learned and better things are to come.

Cheers

Sebastien

GB soundtrack re-issued.. again. This time with bonus tracks

Posted on January 30, 2006

Two years after BMG released a bargain edition of the movie soundtrack, Arista records (who originally relased the soundtrack in the 80s) is set to release a new edition February 28th.

The disc is billed as being remastered, but that’s such a vague term it’s tough to say what that means. What is intersting is that the new CD will featuer a 6 minute version of the Ray Parker Jr. theme and Disco Inferno by The Trammps (the one song conspicuously missing on the original release.) The disc has a SRP of $14.00 $11.98US.

DVDs to be repackaged

Posted on January 26, 2006

March 14th, Sony Home Entertainment will be releasing “repackaged” editions of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 on DVD. As far as anyone can tell, this is code for “we’ll make more money that way.”

Each movie will be sold for a SRP of $14.94. This is five cents cheaper than the double pack is currently available for.

So, if you want my advice, get the double pack now - it doesn’t look like it or the booklet it comes with will be available for much longer.

A little surprise

Posted on January 25, 2006

I’ve known this was coming together for awhile, but sat on it. Now that it’s done, it’s going to take me a few days to transcribe it and post as an article - but I can’t sit on it any more, so here’s a little surprise for you all (requires an mp3 player).

Please feel free to spread the word.

Aykroyd on Sirius

Posted on January 21, 2006

Matt dropped me a line recently to let me know our favorite Ghostbuster has been moving outside his R&B roots to get down with the hip hop;

“Dan Aykroyd has been recently guest hosting on DJ Whoo Kid’s G-Unit Radio Show on Shade 45, Eminem’s Sirius Satellite Radio Station. He’s been interviewing rappers (namely 50 Cent and the G-Unit gang) and has even appeared on a couple of freestyle tracks! Most recently, a DJ Whoo Kid mixtape called Hollywood Homicide has a few small snippets of him on the show. Being a huge rap fan and GB being my favorite movie, it’s just a fantastic and hilarious mix.”

I’ve been trying to find more info - if anybody has Sirius and has been taping Dan’s appearances, let me know. Thanks Matt!

ST GB

Posted on January 6, 2006

Someone took the time to scan in and post an old issue of Atari ST magazine. While there’s only one obvious reference to Ghostbusters, I found the rest of the article, about haunted machines, to be pretty keen. You can click to see larger versions (ie readable) of the page scans.

Ghostbusters in 242k

Posted on January 6, 2006

The latest FoldsFive pixelmash project is… Ghostbusters! Essentially, it’s a tiny, animated gif of the entire movie. Hilarious!

So of you may be familiar with his earlier, infamous mashed version of the Star Wars movies. There’s certainly lots to see on the site - a good way to while away the last few hours of a Friday at work. At least, that’s what I’m going to do.

Dr J selling some choice GB collectibles

Posted on January 4, 2006

Without a doubt, the recent king of Ghostbusters collectibles has been Greg Justis - in the last few years he’s gathered some cool shh…aving cream (sorry, forgot this was a PG site for a moment.)

But now he’s moving and at times like that, you clean house a bit. Which means he’s keeping all the INSANELY cool stuff, but selling off some of his merely extremely cool stuff. Trust me, these are some keen items. Have a look. Greg’s good people and easy to work with.

RGB starting up again on Teletoon

Posted on January 3, 2006

As part of their Dead of Winter programming block, Teletoon will begin airing RGB again (after a two month break since their Halloween run of the cartoon.)

Starting January 14th, RGB will air daily at 2pm, 2:30pm, and 7pm. No word yet on how long the programming block will run, but given the name, one can assume it’ll run until at least early March.
