GB soundtrack re-issued.. again. This time with bonus tracks
Posted on January 30, 2006
Two years after BMG released a bargain edition of the movie soundtrack, Arista records (who originally relased the soundtrack in the 80s) is set to release a new edition February 28th.
The disc is billed as being remastered, but that’s such a vague term it’s tough to say what that means. What is intersting is that the new CD will featuer a 6 minute version of the Ray Parker Jr. theme and Disco Inferno by The Trammps (the one song conspicuously missing on the original release.) The disc has a SRP of $14.00 $11.98US.

Wonder whats with all the re-hashes… And why is Febuary 28th so important to these new GB releases?
It does suggest an organized push - but that could just mean that they’re piggy-backing their advertising budget, looking for ways raise Ghostbusters awareness across the board.
A 6 minutes long version of the GB song?
I bet is the extended edition you can find in the Chartbuster Album of Ray Parker Jr.
I dunno if it is the same as the “searching the spirit” mix which was avaible on some 45′ at the time.(which is basically the version mixed in the movie during the Ghost Fever Grips NYC” montage)
Greetings! Perhaps it is to coincide witht he release of Ghostbusters 3? Maybe that’s what Moranis is going to say… The project never died. It was just under the radar! I’m only kidding. I don’t care what the reason. I’m just excited to get this exciting redux of the soundtrack and The Real Ghostbusters on DVD. Take care!
Man, all this re-releasing, re-issuing and re-packaging, and re-hyping. It’s sending me crazy! But as always I will be pleased to purchase anything with the ghostbusters name. Plus a sweet 6 min. version of the Ray Parker Jr. classic, I mean you jsut can’t go wrong with that.
