When Google Earth was released, I wondered how long it would take for someone to make a guide to Ghostbusters. The answer? Uh, about a year and a half? I guess.
Ironic Sans has put together a topological look at all the New York shooting locations for Ghostbusters. Not that it outdoes the highly informative NYGB Tourguide, but it’s still a nice visual look at all those famous NY locations.

GBHQ covered this on April 20th, which is a month ago tomorrow. So you’re a little late to the party (though I hope you brought some booze).
Don’t feel bad, some of the mainstream media only recently covered it as well. This past Monday (May 15th) it was showcased on the “Around The Net” segment of the all-new Attack Of The Show in the G4TV cable channel.
I taped the episode and may post a video clip on my site one day. They didn’t give the URL for the site in the broadcast, as they don’t give the URLs for ANY websites they showcase in their regular segments. They apparently expect viewers to go their THEIR website to get the links.

I don’t feel bad about it – it never even occured to me that I should feel bad about it, until you mentioned it. And after careful consideration, I still don’t feel bad about it.
If someone had emailed me about it (instead of that stupid GB3 article), I’d have posted it sooner, but as it was, I was busy and only found out about it when the blog owner of the map turned up in a Google blog search. Mostly I posted it as an excuse to link to the NYGB Tourguide site, which is far more informative.
It’s a minor news item – I don’t consider them time sensative, as that a large percentage of my visitors don’t read the core GB sites.
Now, if Bill Murray had died in a plane crash, and I was a month late, that’d be a different matter.
Fairplay to GBHQ.
(polite clapping)
You do realize that I didn’t mean that post in a bad “shame on you” way, right? I hope some of the sarcasm shown through.
Plus it gave me an excuse to mention the then-recent mention of the site on “Attack Of The Show” without having to write my own post about it on my site
I totally missed it on AotS, but it’s been popping up everywhere – it hit a nerve I didn’t even think existed in the mainstream media.
Some of the sarcasm showed through, and mostly I’ve been operating on cranky levels of sleep for about a month, so…
