Two days ago, Slovenian video game developer, Zootfly, sneak-released a couple of videos onto YouTube, sans explaination – best guess is that they amount to them expressing an interest in a Ghostbusters game (as they featured concept art in a company precis – see below for the art.)
Currently, as PC understands it, nobody holds the licence to make a GB game, so it’s not known if this is some pre-hype before pursuing the license or a publisher, evidence that they just aquired the licence, or are just doing it to show off their love of GB.
Whatever the case, it’s pretty darn sweet. Big thanks to Kingpin, Robert Knippels, and the gang at the GB message boards for spotting this.

Concept art from summer 2006 has surfaced and I’ve taken the liberty of turning it into desktop sizes for you. You’re welcome.

I was really excited when I saw this so I googled it and found this:
Not that I have any idea what it says, BUT there is a full page screen shot of ALL FOUR GHOSTBUSTERS!
Yes, I saw that as well – I was waiting to find out a bit more before posting it. Actually, I’ll do that right now, what the heck.
Is anyone else really hoping that this isn’t gonna be a game. I mean yea some stuff looks cool, but I’d rather have a more genuine gb game. not with our boys dressed as doom rejects.
Yeah sure they do at times look like Doom rejects, but I say, if you get rid of Egon and Ray’s helmets, they look just like an updated, all hell is breaking loose and we must really get our asses and equipment in gear version of the Ghostbusters. I call them the Extreme Real Ghostbusters… Lol.
Judging from the crosshair and the oh-so-familiar physics of the Proton Pack in the second video, that’s a Half-Life 2 mod.
At best, that could be used to pitch the concept to a publisher, allowing them to get some money to develop the game while the publisher handles the licencing wrangling.
At worst, it’s just another HL2 mod, although that won’t make it any less fun. Unless they get Foxed, of course.
I think this looks incredbile. Looks more Gears of War than Doom. In fact, a Gears of War type buddy system would be perfect. You could shoot ghosts and your buddy (either the computer or another player) could throw the trap, etc, and visa versa. Traps could hold up to so many ghosts and a certain number of traps could be carried until unloaded at the containment unit at the firehouse or a mini-portable in Ecto 1. Gears of War with jokes!

*I do hope this becomes a game, as it shows some genuine promise…And here I thought I was the only one who saw this…However, I do agree that this looks too much like Doom 3/Halo/Gears Of War for my liking…Why “fix” something if it ‘aint broke?!…
*If you want to “update” the franchise, base it offa 88 MPH’s “Ghostbusters” Mini-Series, “Legion”, as it’s set in present-day…But don’t change the asthetics of it – As time has proven – “Don’t Mess With The Classics”…
*Otherwise – This is AWESOME ;P…
*Cheers.
I´m… just… speechless…
That´s exactly what I have dreamt my whole life about a GB videogame… and the illustration… *trying not to cry* is just A W E S O M E.
Thanks dude, thanks for sharing. I´m so happy.
Wow! The exterior shots are exactly like Gears of War but even bigger! I’d pick this up opening day no question!
Its a prototype
early prototype, but it looks cool as hell

Wow, we have come a long way haven’t we?
With the real game coming out tomorrow, it’s interesting to see where the excitement for it originally came from.
Just goes to show how much we really wanted a game to happen. We were actually willing to accept this interpretation of Ghostbusters rather than the true to the source version that we’re all soon going to have in our hands.
Thanks Zootfly.
