Sega Genesis Ghostbusters TV spot

Posted on September 27, 2007

Big ups to Ryan LeClair for finding this one (the original can be found at Sega 16’s media archive, but it’s in WMV format (and the volume is loooooud! So, I’m using a YouTube copy for universal viewing. Hang tight Ryan, the zombies are coming soon.

One stop shopping for licensed GB costumes

Posted on September 25, 2007

Some of you may recall the Rubies Ghostbuster costumes, which are basically simple jumpsuits with inflatable proton packs - well, a lot of you wrote in about the new addition to the line;

Sexy Ghostbuster! And it’s pretty much what you’d expect. Khaki hotpants and bellybutton revealing top, one size too small. Plus, a ball cap and a little protonpack backpack that seems more like a purse with shoulder straps than anything. It’s nice that Ghostbusters has made enough of a comeback in popular culture that it’s now joined the sexy batgirl and sexy supergirl on the rack (no pun intended… or was it?)

This website (ghostbusterscostumes.com - no fooling) offers not only the sexy outfit, but the regular adult and children’s sized outfits too! Handy!

Thanks to Van and dozens of others of you (you know who you are) for the heads up. Never fear, the traditional How To Make A Cheap GB Costume article will return in time for Halloween.

Everyone can relax, I found the house…

Posted on September 25, 2007

“How much?”

Only $30,000 a month.

Dan Aykroyd has been offering his LA home for rent for a running total of a year and change - no takers so for, possibly because of that hefty rental cost, but it is a certified celebrity home, having been owned by Ringo Starr and Mama Cass in the past. Plus, it has a ghost or two, according to Aykroyd and his paranormal researcher brother (and sometimes actor) Peter.

Thanks to Troy at GBHQ for spotting this one.

RGB promo Frankensteined back together

Posted on September 25, 2007

Before RGB hit the air, a promotional commercial started making the rounds - this promo exists mostly as bits and pieces here and there, but Ectofiend took it upon himself to try and put this PR Humpty-Dumpty back together again. The results are a bit shaky, but not bad. Until we can find a complete, clean version, this will do nicely.

Squidbusters

Posted on September 25, 2007

It’s not uncommon for the photoshop phreaks at Something Awful to include Ghostbusters in their fun - this time the theme is repurposing vehicles, and the Ecto-1 got a little bit of an upgrade, as you can see above. For the full sized picture (and to enjoy the other entries), go check out SA.

The name is Stantz… Ray Stantz.

Thanks to Boomerjinks for the heads up.

Cereal:Geek second issue hit stands

Posted on September 24, 2007

In no time flat since they announced that there would be a second issue, the makers of Cereal:Geek magazine have finished it! And it’s out! And you can buy it from Graham Crackers! Except they’re out!

So, yeah, in the good news/bad news department, those of you who may have been reluctant to buy overseas last time can now buy from Graham Crackers comics… except they’re sold out. Gah!

No worries, I’m sure there will be more soon. In the meantime, make note of this link - this is where you can find out how to buy a copy for yourself (and yes, it appears this issue will be as jam packed with RGB goodness as the last one, as evidenced by the illustration above, care of Dan/Traditional Danimation, by the looks of it.)

Ray Parker Jr. to appear on TV for Halloween!

Posted on September 21, 2007

NBC’s Singing Bee, hosted by Joey Fatone has some killer guests this fall. Of particular interest to us Ghostheads is that Ray Parker Jr. will be appearing on the Oct. 30th Halloween episode. No word if he’ll perform, as the show is all about amateur singers trying to remember words to songs, but we can always hope.

We Are Legion: Tyson Ritter and Daniel Matteo

Posted on September 21, 2007

I’m not sure how serious the man is, so I’m not sure if I’d call this a “We Are Legion”, but regardless, All American Rejects singer Tyson Ritter recently spoke to MTV and cracked about the name for their next album.

“I want to call the record Zuul from ‘Ghostbusters’ because that was like the king of Gozer, and that was like the top of what you can get,” he snickered. “So, I don’t know, maybe, like, Ghostbusters? Or All-American Rejects: Ghostbusters: The Album. That would be badass. I don’t know, it’ll probably be called Remember Us? because it’ll probably take another year before we make it.”

Actually, Zuul was the minion of Gozer, not king. Oh, nevermind.

Similarly, Halifax-based crooner Daniel Matteo listed Ghostbusters as a favourite in a recent festival bio. Smoooooth.

NY Government TV promotes Tribeca, Ghostbusters

Posted on September 14, 2007

I wasn’t aware of this, but the duly elected representatives of New York (city, county, or state, I do not know) have a TV channel. And on that TV channel, they have a show called Secrets of New York. The new, third season has started, and the episode looks at Tribeca as a filming location, which of course includes the good ol’ Hook and Ladder 8 building (the host of the show can be seen posing in front of it, the GB2 sign clearly visible in the background.)

The show aired on Tuesday, but will air again this Sunday at 8:30 (5:30 PST) - those of us not in New York can watch online via streaming video.

TriBeCa: Mysteries of New York’s Backlot Revealed
…As a neighborhood, TriBeCa has evolved and re-defined itself many times throughout the centuries. Today, its iconic buildings and cobblestone streets serve as backdrops for some of Hollywood’s biggest features. And its annual film festival draws thousands of filmgoers from around the world. TriBeCa has truly emerged as one of New York City’s premier neighborhoods.

Cheers to Wheelhouse for the heads up.
