Kevin “Balboa” dropped me a line to share his run in with the parade marshalls at this year’s Halloween parade in Salem, MA. The local Ghostbusters team, with their Ecto-1, got to lead the parade of costumed revelers – and as you can see in the video, they went over very well. Nice work gang, and thanks for the pics and clip, Kevin (you can’t miss him – he’s the one that opted to go half-nekkid in October)!

OK, I’m going to risk sounding total lame geek-a-nerd prop fanboy here, but their stuff is really, really, really bad, like they’re not even trying. Normally I’d keep this to myself, but hailing from Salem, Mass myself with a number of pack replicas to my name, I’m getting tired of hearing about these guys being in the parade and parked downtown just about every year. At least try, dammit!
That’s kind of sour grapes, Nick. They have tried, and you can see the results – they get a reaction from the crowd, get to be parade marshals, etc.
I’m sure you’re right – in a prop contest, their packs aren’t exactly the most accurate out there, and the car isn’t the proper car, but people (who wouldn’t know ribbon cable from an Iona polisher) get it and love it.
It’s not an inviable crown they wear – anybody with better packs and car can put in an appearance. But until then, they’re to be applauded for their efforts.
I’ve gone to Salem every Halloween for 5 years now and I see less and less awesome GB suits every time. I think it’s mainly because I go later at night each year. One year I showed up at 2pm and saw a TON.
