“He’s a sailor, he’s in New York…”

A larger image from Variety - click here for the full size, jaw dropping, image. Kotaku says the Variety reporter is claiming multiplayer and co-op features for the game, but a) I can’t find that reference and b) I think players would riot if it didn’t, so file it under no-brainer news.

Incredibly awesome… though I have to wonder how the GB is standing on the side of the building like that.

BTW, thought I’d point out a typo for you: “co-up” should be “co-op” :-)

I know you just posted this minutes ago, and probably in a great hurry, but I just thought I’d point it out.

If you look, you can see a rope and harness - why he couldn’t just shoot down the side from the roof… you know, like in the movie… well, that’s a whole other matter.

And thank you for being my proofreader - you’re right, I’m trying to rush to sleep.

Still a year away and I can hardly sleep because I’m too excited.

You know, I’m starting to think a video game makes sense for a GB sequel. I’m so excited that Ramis and Akroyd are writing it and that the whole gang is back to do voices instead of introducing a whole new cast because the actors are now old.

Also, games are making more money than movies now a days and to be able to control a ghostbuster and interact in that world will be so much fun. To bad it is a year away.

Ya know I thought about the concern from the whole “old story aspects” vs. new ones… Whats to say we can’t play through all the old battles as a segway to the new story? I can only say for me personally, but I would friggin love to bust slimer, Gozer and the dogs, Stay Puft…thats part of the fun! Getting to do what you grew up watching! Man, I think everyone’s forgetting too, Vigo, the Scoleri Brothers! Shit I cant wait.

Look at the lovely detail on the GB, and eerything else.

But focus on the GB. Picture perfect from what I can see.

That lets us in on the caliber of the game so far. If it looks this nice and is so detailed so soon, it’s looking like it’s not going to be a quick cash-in (which could have happened, in spite of the talent for the voices and writing).

Seem pretty good but what about if it was a free roam feature. It will be great to drive in the 1959 Caddy around new york city. Busting ghost when a call was given from the staff (can’t remember the name) to the ecto, click a button on your controller to turn on the siren and start weaving around the corners to the destination given.

Can’t see why they can’t if they didn’t put that feature in. You will be missing out all the joy of the point in all the ghostbuster’s operation, business.
Also in the films they have short scene when the ghosbuster are out an about busting ghost so is best to fill in the fun with side-missions or something similar.

I hope its not missions similar to the King Kong gameplay or any other same games which it will be PANTS.

Yea we should all hope that the game will be GTA-style. Free roaming in early 90’s NY with plenty of random stuff to do and ghosts to bust, but of course also a strong storyline for when you’re ready to do the missions.

I’ve often envisioned this…it would be even cooler if it was the free-roaming thing but there were also missions that took place away from the city, similar to Real Ghostbusters episodes - haunted farm, haunted castle, haunted fair, etc.

Then of course going with Aykroyd’s original idea for GB3 where there’s a flipside “Hell” version of NYC, there could be a point in the game where you travel there and stay for a while, and/or switch between the worlds at will like Zelda’s Dark World/Light World.

Oh totally! Follow the story but also have tons of sub-missions and free roaming!

Damn theres just SO much that can be done for the replay value of it all! The driving, the missions, the various points of interest, the flipside world FALL 08 fuck!

You know, I didn’t notice the rope and harness until about an hour later as I was re-looking at the photo as I was putting together the new “New Ghostbusters Video Game News Archive” page on Spook Central.
