What are your thoughts on an Evo Shandor (sp?) shirt. “Too sick to survive”?

On the “grasshoppa” thing – I’ve always used that as a joke, not to defame someone, but as a “term of endearment”…Now that I know the literal translation, I’ll use it more wisely from now on ;P…

The “board status” thing – I never meant to become the “nefarious nitpicker”…As it is a place for the discussion of one’s thoughts on the upcoming game, I thought it only fair that I get to post my feelings on certain things as well, especially as one [or all of] the Dev team is lurking around the forums…If that wasn’t the case, I most likely would be less inclined to post pictures and what-not, as it wouldn’t get to the people it was intended mostly for, and all of the work that went into compiling them would be for naught, as they aren’t the most “popular” thing for discussion in that thread right now…

But as one Dev team member asked Ben to relay to us collectively – He wanted our “suggestions”…And that was what I was trying to do…Some are content to talk about “gameplay”, “game mechanics” and the like and I have no problem with those what little I’ve seen of the game, in-action…My problem lied with some [not all] of the graphics…For me it has to be a complete experience, and as such if the graphics are lacking, it’s not going to be a 100% experience…

And it doesn’t hurt that my faith in Sony is next to nill right now…Throwing out things with the GB brand [I.e. the 2005 Dvd's] and hoping it’ll sell on that alone…For casual fans maybe – For guys like me – Not a chance…I was just doing my part, and hoping to try to steer them [Dev team] in the right direction, if by chance they were perusing the boards…

Though for some odd reason I seem to be the one that everyone “zeros in” on to judge, even though there have been members on there with the same aim, just on different aspects of the game, and just sans the “pictorial”…Even when I explain myself before hand, and have toned down my “delivery”…

I guess everyone’s a critic…Myself included.

But anyways – Apology accepted, and yes the “hatchet” is buried…And even though I’m only 28 [And only getting older by the year] – I forget with the best of ‘em Caste ;P…

This will be one part apology, one part not, and one part excuse. Hopefully we can bury the hatchet (a rarity on the internet, but I’m game to try.)

Firstly, the excuse. I’m old and forgetful – not Methuselah old, but the prime, it is gone, and it gets me into trouble sometimes. This is sort of one of those times.

In the huge burst on info scrabbling when the game was announced, I did what I do, and dug up the Variety article – nothing special, and something many others did at the same time. I posted it, and quickly got a comment on the post from someone essentially whining that they’d found it first. That bugged me – and without going into names, his was, well, close to your messageboard posting nick, Lanny. And I mistook one for the other.

Add in your self-described nit-picker status (plus old age, remember) and my brain pinned it all on you.

A few days later, you posted that link to the Kylie doll – I didn’t realize it was on the same site, and as you had no other comment, plus my newly formed, erroneous opinion that you were a whiny nit-picker (plus old age), and I thought it was a “me too” post, not an addendum.

Get to today, and this is where my apology kind of ends, sort-of.

As you said, you’re hardcore – it shows. You’re holding a lot of GB stuff in your head. I saw your firehall door post. I’m hardcore too, but just not like you – I’m not a stats or trivia guy, though I know more than the average, ordinary bear.

So, your comments on the Japanese playing card post (which, whether you meant it or not, implied that I’m not a serious collector) and today, where you called me Grasshopper (dude, that means only one thing in English slang – “I know more than you.”) I’d had enough.

Now, thing make a bit more sense.

I got you wrong on a couple of things and again, I apologize.

And on a couple of others, you rankle people, and you rankled me on a day when I wasn’t interested in someone talking down to me.

In the future, I’m going to accept at face value that you are genuinely contributing to the conversation – preaching and teaching. Not talking down to the crowd.

In return, besides accepting my apology, try and frame things a bit more casually – like you’re making additions, not proclamations – it’ll help in the long run.

And don’t call me Grasshopper – I’m too old for that shit.

I don’t need you to explain to me the concept of shirts=money and I understand where the date could have come from too.

What’s really starting to bug me is you drop into every conversation (here at on the boards) not to help, but to try and show everyone that you’re the better know-it-all. And if you want to, that’s fine, but you’re going about it in a really socially inept sort of way.

The best example is on the custom, Mignola-style Ray. You didn’t post, “cool!” or “Cool! Here’s one I made.” – you just posted a link to yours. Not cool dude – that’s “It’s the Me show” behaviour.

And the bit where you and I found the same article within 11 minutes of each other, but you make a point of commenting here that “You found it first.”

You’re a fount on GB knowledge, kid. But instead of sharing it with everyone, you’re lording it over them. And it sucks.

Please keep this conversation in mind for the future.

*And to answer your question – the reason it said that in the booklet, is that the movie started production in 1983, and being as though the booklet was showing “the making of”, the “Venkman classified information” thing was a play on that fact.

*As to why it made it to a T-Shirt – One has to only look at the “almighty dollar”, and the “unschooled-in-all-things-GB” schlob that came up with the idea…
