Making it the first magazine to nab a solid exclusive look at the Wii version of the game. But until it hits the shelves, we have only this blurb from Gamespot UK to tide us over;
The game will have 10 or so single-player levels, including the streets of New York during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, a library basement, a graveyard, and “Lost Island,” along with four-player co-op and competitive modes, and a series of minigames.
Multiplayer modes include two-versus-two battle mode, where the team that catches the most ghosts wins, or another where you just damage as much furniture as possible. There is also domination mode, where players have to control a series of artefacts. Minigames will include Shuffleboard, Ghost Trap, and Proton Packs.
The news on the levels fits with the concept art we’ve already seen, though it’s important to keep in mind that NGamer is looking at the Wii version of the game, and the minigames/multiplayer modes may not be present in the other nextgen consoles.
Game Asylum appears to have had a look at the NGamer article as well, adding more pieces to the puzzle. As expected, the Wiimote is used to run the neutrona wand of the proton pack, while the nunchuk is used to literally push the traps out to snare ghosts. Nice!
As well, the proton pack can be upgraded, including a goo-gun, explosive blasts, and even a short-circuit setting that generates a temporary shield around the Ghostbuster. Slimer will apparently be a playable character, though most likely in the ghosts versus busters multiplayer games.
NGamer also has an early look at the DS version;
It’s still early days for the DS version, but we do know that it’s viewed from a top-down perspective and will have a management structure – you can pick and choose missions, then use the cash to buy weapon upgrades.

That lvl is going to be hell and a total nightmare… I mean the streets of NY duing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade… Vigozer help us all…
I want a Murray the Mantis. I don’t know why, but I do. I don’t even have to fight him, he just has to float by at some point.
Hmm sounds interesting but GameInformer stated that in the Wii and PS2 versions you will play through the same story as Xbox and PS3…these details seem to disagree.
I didn’t think they conflicted – the articles mention the library ghost, etc., and some of the others mentioned match the concept art (basement, etc.) with a couple of new ones (like the thanksgiving day parade.)
The thing is they conflict because they’re not exactly rich in detail – we can assume they’re not saying enough, and they will match, or wait for more information in order to find out if it does conflict.
The verdict, basically, is still out, but it’s interesting to hear them talk about new levels, and the multiplayer some more.
Except for the DS, which is very likely going to differ a lot.
I´m about buying the 360 only for the GB game (I quit playing videogames about 10 years ago), but with this Wii info, I´m thinking on buying the Nintendo console too.
T_T
This is something to play with your GF, wife, or kids. I know Im going to. I have a wii and this game sounds perfect for it.
On another note, who is waiting up all night to see what the hiring sign means on the game site?
My money is on it being a street team, similar to the set-up used by Universal for things like Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz.
“This is something to play with your GF, wife, or kids.”
Just don’t play it with your girlfriend and wife, cause in the words of Egon, it would be bad. Lol, I’m terrible…
On a serious note, heck yeah I’m gonna wait up and see what its all about on the site.
I think the Wii version sounds like it’s going to turn out well. I mean, worst case scenario, it’s not so good… there’s still the other version to play.
And if they’re both bad… well, I’ll power through it for the story, which can’t be bad since Dan and Harold are writing it. =P
im also curious about the hiring sign…however nothing seems to have been posted as of yet
also im slightly curious about another thing: does this new ghostbusters game mean that extreme ghostbusters is not set in the same ‘universe’ as the ghostbuster movies/RGB due to the fact this new game implys that your a new ‘buster and the gbs have become a franchise?
Anybody know why it’s 11/30/07 and the gorram “Now Hiring” sign is still not up? Because I want to apply to get the job. Who else is with me?
The Wii version doesn’t sound to bad, I love the street during the parade, thats going to be Hell on the Ghostbusters trying to catch ghost.
I know which one I’m going to be playing, the destroy the furniture one, nothing like a good destruction mini-game, especially when it involves the Ghostbusters.
In regards to Murray the Mantis, I think it would be pretty coll to feature some of the RGB/EGB ghosts as well as the movie ghosts
Sorry not coll, I meant cool
