GBfans.com launches online calendar
Posted on December 31, 2007

Remember the pre-buzz on a fan generated Ghostbusters calendar mentioned awhile back? Well, it’s first month is now available online - say hello to Miss January. Yes, Miss January. The big surprise turns out to be that the calendar is a bit on the spicy side. Kind of like those calendars you see at the autoshop, only these are for the HQ firehall.
Head on over to GBfans.com to check it out.

Be Kind Rewind director invites like reply from Ivan Reitman
Posted on December 31, 2007
With only a matter of days until Be Kind Rewind hits theaters, the already eclectic marketing campaign turns it up a notch. For starters, the movie website takes the movie premise and expands it to the internet - Jerry (Jack Black) has erased the internet and they must now rebuild it as best they can, termed “sweding” by the makers of the film. This web sweding includes a replacement imdb.com listing for Ghostbusters and some swell Swede Ghostbusters wallpaper. The site also contains a replacement YouTube site, complete with the trailer for the sweded films, as we’ve seen before.
But even more interesting is the news that the director of the film, Michel Gondry, is hoping to give the directors of the films lovingly rebuilt in Be Kind Rewind a chance to do the same back.
“I can’t tell you what will or won’t come to pass,” Sugarman said. “But we think it’s as much fun for Ivan Reitman to play with ‘Be Kind Rewind’ as it is for us to play with ‘Ghostbusters.’ A lot of people in the film industry have a great sense of humor about this stuff.”

Hudson on a fourth Ghostbusters script
Posted on December 27, 2007
Ernie Hudson talked Ghostbusters at a recent interview and in addition to making all the usual comments on the game, he expresses a regret that the stars didn’t voice the Real Ghostbusters cartoon. The article also mentions that Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are still interested in making a third movie. This isn’t terribly startling news - they’ve always said they wanted to do another - but what was interesting was that the article states Ramis and Aykroyd apparently have a fourth script already worked out!
Thanks to Nevil for the heads up.
[update] Initially the fourth script seemed attributed to Hudson during the interview, but with a careful read it seems more like a random statement by the interviewer without collaboration.

We Are Legion: Jason Reitman
Posted on December 27, 2007
Oh sure, it was probably a given, but when the man wears a Ghostbusters t-shirt to press interviews for his own Oscar-bound film, you don’t have to take it for granted anymore. It’s now fact - Jason Reitman is a Ghostbusters fan.
“Marley was dead. Who ya gonna call?”
Posted on December 23, 2007

Missed this last year, and then had to wait until now to share it. But it’s worth a chuckle. Done all your, I dunno… shopping? Baking? Fasting? If I don’t get to talk to you before the New Year, happy holidays.

Jason Reitman says “nuh-uh” to directing Ghostbusters
Posted on December 19, 2007
Showing that the press is terrible at asking good questions, Jason Reitman spoke to MTV about how often he gets asked if he’d ever direct a Ghostbusters film.
“It would be the most boring ‘Ghostbusters’ movie of all time. There would be no ghost busting,” laughed the red-hot 30-year-old, who broke out in 2005 with “Thank You for Smoking.” “I like making really small, personal movies. When I read ‘Juno,’ I just thought it was iconic. And ‘Ghostbusters’ is iconic, but it’s my dad’s, and I don’t think I can touch that.”
But, entertaining the notion of what he’d do with Drs. Venkman, Stantz and Spengler (and, yes, Winston), Reitman added: “My [’Ghostbusters 3′] would just be guys talking about ghosts, really. ‘You hear about that ghost? Spooky stuff!’ and then the other guy would be like, ‘Yeah.’ ”
Actually, I’d go see that.
Press! Ask the man more questions about Juno! It deserves the attention. And that’s coming from a guy that eats, breaths, and sleeps Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters fan calendar coming in January
Posted on December 18, 2007
When you have as many fan made, photo quality, hero proton packs out there, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to actually take some nice pictures of them. And what better way than as part of a calendar (Just in time, as my 2007 one is about to run out.)
No word yet on details (price, shipping, is it raising money for something?) yet Full details aren’t known - it will be a monthly download - but AJ at GBFans has been dropping hints and we’ll likely get some more info soon.

I can let go any time I want, honest.

Dan Aykroyd is wrapping up his cross-Canada tour promoting his various spirits, which normally wouldn’t be notable except for two things from this newspaper article (it’s the paper thing your Dad gets from the front steps every morning) from Newfoundland. One is his mention of opening a new facility in Beamsville, Ontario, which will feature paraphernalia from his various movies (leading to the obvious question of what Ghostbusters goods are left to show off between 15 years of Planet Hollywood and various online prop auctions?) The other is the strange, backhanded, off-topic wrap-up to the article;
Wine connoisseurs exist in hoards, especially in Newfoundland and Labrador in recent years (just look at the insanity that gathers over the annual NLC Wine Fest). But there are those who just can’t let go of Dr. Ray Stantz, and what they’re really interested in is that ‘Ghostbusters’ video game for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360; it is currently in production, slated for release in 2008. The whole gang is back providing vocals - including Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Egon Spengler (Harold Rami), Winston Zeddmore (Ernie Hudson), and even Rick Moranis’ Louis Tully.
Five stars to Heidi for talking to The Man and helping to promote the game to those on the East Coast who don’t scour the web for Ghostbusters news - half star deduction for the awkward segue.

Refurbishing an RGB pencil topper
Posted on December 17, 2007
So, I got bored and decided to undertake a project I’ve been planning for awhile. I have a selection of the RGB pencil toppers that were put out oh so many years ago, the ones that are little snow-globes. Snowglobes are a simple concept - water, with a thickener, and “snow” flakes inside. And left alone, they’ll last years. However, depending on how they were made, they can lose some of their liquid over time - it could be micro-evaporation through the plastic seals or magic, but whatever the case, the end result, over 20 years, is a serious lack of medium for the snow to swirl around in. Check out my Peter and Slimer. Slimer in particular is missing two-thirds of his liquid.
