Please stop sending me links to the Bill Murray story – it’s not going on PC, because there’s no point to it being on PC. PC isn’t Defamer, after all, and frankly, it’s none of their business either (only, you know, it’s their business to make it their business.)

Right on brother! I do enjoy my daily celeb tabloid sites, hence how I know about the Bill Murray story, but PC is no place for garbage like that.
you are a noble web master!
Why what happened to Bill Murray. You’ve got me curious now! Thankyou Proton Charging! I’ll Google it.
“Murray, however, did agree to pay $7 million to his wife within 60 days of an eventual divorce decree.”
Maybe Murray will now agree to do Ghostbusters III to make up for the money that he’s lost!
A bit inappropriate Matthew, under the circumstances… It isn’t really a matter to joke about.
I wasn’t joking!
waaaa waaaa the fans that helped make my site so great are sending gossip about the actors of my favorite movie… waaa waaa i’ll post gossip that I see fit, but when its potentially negative I’ll complain that fans which are responsible for 90% of the news i post are sending stuff i won’t post… waaa waaa i’m just like fox news… i’ll post whatever opinion i want to drive … waaa waaa… Seriously buddy, you should be thankful that people like your site so much, I personally do as well, but over the past few years I’ve seen you be a REAL dick to people about what they send and you come across as really arrogant to some…
It’s one thing to receive news and not post it, but its completely different when you complain about the fact that people are sending you news…
Be thankful for what you have and rejoice in the fact that you’ve helped keep Ghostbusters in the media and in the minds of millions of registered voters…
I will never understand societies need to peer into the lives of famous people.
If it pertains to a movie then fine…inform us and if not we don’t need to know.
Hundreds if not thousands of people get divorced in this country a year and really famous or not it’s nobodies business but those involved.
Wow…BABY MAY must need a nap…she seems cranky.
Look I get sent shit all the time for the show…I know that it isn’t so much trying to suppress news…it’s more about trying to respect those deserve respect.
Plus I see this post as acknowledging that the stuff was received and giving a reason for it not showing up here.
Maybe he just wanted you all to know that he isn’t out right ignoring what your sending.
I tip my hat to you Chris.
Classy move, Chris. Well done.
I don’t see how a story about Bill Murray’s private life has anything to do with Ghostbusters as a franchise. No reason to post that story here.
It wasn’t a complaint, Baby – it was a request. I try and make the time to reply to everyone that emails PC, but it’s tough – cutting off what was turning into a flood of well-intentioned submissions seemed a smarter move than having to ignore them.
Everybody else certainly seems to have understood that.
PC is not a blind news feed – every story that has the word “Ghostbusters” in it doesn’t make it onto PC (we have Google for that now.) It is subject to my discretion – when it comes to the lives of the actors from the movie, I’m picky. Sigourney Weaver’s father passes away, we can send our condolences. Someone gets a star on some walk of fame, that’s always note worthy. They got a new movie, the movie has to catch my attention. They end up with their divorce papers made public… not interested.
I still appreciate that people sent it in – I appreciate all the links people send me. I even said as much just recently on Odd’s radio show – submissions are a big part of PC. But yes, it all goes through me. Thank you for stating the obvious and being a jerkstore – I love Friday’s like this.
Ah let it slide off… like you said, everyone else seems to get the idea. You handled it professionally, exactly how YOU would handled YOUR site. Because afterall, it IS YOURS! Heh
Water off a ducks’ back… I just don’t want the idea that I don’t appreciate people sending me stuff to stick. I do, even if I can’t or don’t use it, I really appreciate that PC is a place where fans help get GB info out to other fans.
MINES!
Precisely.
Even though I was personally curious as to what the news story was on Murray I don’t think it warrants a news story on Proton Charging. Why? Because it has absolutely nothing to do the Ghostbusters! Chris made the right decision.
Don’t forget Chris, I need a banner for your site to put on mine
I saw this headline on MSN.com and sent it to AJ. I just saw the words “Bill Murray”, and sent it. On reflection (and after reading Chris’ reaction to being sent this link himself), I felt like a Jackass for sending it.
While at first I was just trying to be a dutiful site reader, I can see why it isn’t news anyone here would want to see. While I think most people who sent this link just did what I did; they saw the words “Bill Murray”, and figured it was noteworthy. However, I respect Chris for setting a standard of what is appropriate and not to be on his site. It will help keep the site pure, and like I said, I regretted sending the link afterwords.
I hope I speak for most of us when I say I don’t like to see one of my personal heroes going through any kind of real-life hardship. Message received: let’s keep it Ghostbusters.
Just for a final note, I’d like to say that I have sincere sympathy for Mr. Murray and his four children. I’m sure we all do; ’nuff said.
