PC reader and doodle vandal Chris attended the BookExpo America this past weekend, and got to talk to the folks at the TokyoPop booth – they confirmed to him the Ghostbusters book listed on Amazon (as mentioned here), and said that it will tell a story between Ghostbusters 2 and the upcoming video game (set two years after the second film.)
Hopefully in the wake of the BEA convention, we’ll start to hear more from TokyoPop on this project.

BRILLIANT NEWS!
ANOTHER peice of Ghostbusters merchandise!
I’m interested to know what looks like, if there are illustrations and info on who’s worked on it.
I’m getting it no matter what though!
The lengths they are going to canonize all of this game-inter-related stuff is unprecedented, isn’t it?
Well, Star Wars did it with Shadows of the Empire stuff, but it’s best to forget that if we can. Also, I haven’t cared about Star Wars in about 10 years.
Yeah, this is pretty crazy, Ron.. but I guess since the game is considered total canon set in ’91.. I guess it makes sense. Aykroyd has a huge part in everything that’s going on, I’m guessing he wouldn’t want licensed stuff like this to screw with his interpretation of the events after Ghostbusters II.
I’m assuming the manga is only a small part of what will be released since it seems to me Fall 2008 will be the late 80s all over again.. in a sense.
Maybe this will give us a proper bow out of Daina and Lewis.
Dana and Louis. Maybe.
I’m certainly intrigued and I’ll probably get it.
It’s weird, it’s like four years ago with 88MPH, NECA and Ibooks… but unlike that, this seems less likely to stall. It’s nice to see so much interest and investment into the franchise… it’s just nice to have new Ghostbusters things again.
I think I might cry.
Yeah, Ben, I was thinking the same thing about it being like four years ago. It was weird, I loved the comic, the novel, and the toys, but it oddly seemed just not “the time” for the masses. Now seems like “the time.”
we get nothing for the longest time and all of the sudden we are bombarded with everything Ghostbusters all at once.
New ultra-hyped game FRANCHISE, Real Ghostbusters entire series on DVD, Blu-Ray movie release, and now TokyoPop comics!
All I have to say is… it’s about time!
Call me crazy, but I kinda enjoyed what MPH studios did with bringing the Ghostbusters to the present decade and pretend like it didn’t happen in the 80′s. I brought up some neat possibilities, like wireless traps. What I did NOT enjoy was that I was one of the fools that fell for the HC (but was lucky enough to hunt all the single issues later).
Still, count me as interested in this manga comic.
They better not put Janine with Louis though, or I’ll hoark!!!!
