Big thanks to Lanny D. Crepit for spotting this YouTube vid of the commercial ABC used back in the 80s to promote their showing of Ghostbusters. The narration by 80s stalwart, Gary Owens, is priceless.

Brilliant!
Gary Owens would be a childhood hero of mine if it weren’t for the fact that I still want to be him when I grow up.
It’s funny you post this now as I just added over 90 videos to my site, several of which are GB1 and GB2 tv promos – including some from ABC (different ones than what you posted).
You can read the full details here:
By the way, Gary Owens, is more of a 60s and 70s stalwart, than 80s. Laugh In and most of his classic cartoon voices were from those decades.
Simply classic, though I gotta say Paul, as for most of us who didn’t grow up in the 70′s, Gary Owens is an 80′s point of reference for us…oddly enough as a strange paradox, consider what Ghostbusters is going to be to kids TODAY who didn’t grow up with the film…they’re gonna know it is this crazy kick ass video game. Now THATS weird…Almost as bad as people who favor movies over the original, noveled books
Paul Rudoff once again proves why Spook Central is one of the two best Ghostbusters sites around (Proton Charging being the other, of course).
Gary Owens was a fixture for three decades, yes, but it’s an 80s clip – it seemed odd to comment outside the decade.
Paul (and to everyone posting links) can we use HTML links instead of whole URLs?
I heard Gary Owens on the radio a while back announcing one of those old crooner/big band shows. He has one of those voices that you know you’ve heard somewhere, but can’t place a name or a face with. Classic.

Sorry about that. It was late and I got lazy, so I just copy and pasted the url in there like that.
