This is it – time to pre-order the Tokyopop Ghostbusters manga (if you are so inclined.) It’s three months prior to an October release date, which means Diamond Distribution will be taking pre-orders through your favorite comic shop. Big thanks to Dave for reminding me – he’s had a look at the catalog already and it features a blurb on the book. It will have at least four stories, including one where Ray learns busting ghosts isn’t always a blast, and Egon has a heart-to-heart with a ghost before having to bust it (I’m looking forward to that one.) More on this book soon!
[UPDATE] Diamond is saying this issue of Previews covers items shipping in September – this may mean comic shops will get the item earlier than we expected.
[UPDATE] Dave found the Preview listings write up online (at Wizard Universe.) The page also includes the “Art Not Final” cover image (classic logo on black, but of course.)
a possessed fashion designer offers a spring line aimed to displease; a cantankerous theater critic haunts a new production of a big budget musical; Ray learns that catching ghosts isn’t ALWAYS exciting; Egon has a touching moment with a spectral spook; and Winston shines when the boys go from busters to bustees to a quartet of peeved off poltergeists.

Four stories, huh? For some reason, I thought it was going to be one story spread over the whole book. But whatever, sounds good either way.
Opps yeah, now that you mention it, I was told that it would come in on September 24. It says in the blurb that they are timeing the release with the game. Does this mean early release of the game? Thats probably jumping the gun, but a boy can dream ya know? lol
i cant wait for this….the next few months are going to be sweet with this book, the game, the blue ray disc release, and whatever else comes out! this book is going to be a good one, it just strange to see ghostbusters in something like manga. i hope it works
Manga’s are generally broken up into several chapters which could explain why it’s four stories in one book.
Yeah I wish they had a preview of the images in the book, to give us a better idea of how this will work, but even the cover was labeled as temporary art, It was the black background with the symbol that they are using for all the promotions at the moment ( original symbol not the nifty new shaded one) I know we may have had a glimpse of the art already, but I want a real preview darnit! lol
Still for ten bucks how can you beat it? Not that I will have ten bucks to my name after this fall… lol
ALRIGHT! Who’s ready to preorder?!
I will be talking to my local comic book guy about getting it pre ordered.. i can’t wait to see it..
Ok, I totally would have e-mailed this in for the update, but gmail hates me at the moment so we have gone on to Plan B!
I apologize for any inaccuracies that my initial tip gave, I was paraphrasing, but after much SEARCHING i Was finally able to find an online source for the info I read today. Here it is, with a link to the original article at wizardonline.
“Ghostbusters (Manga) GN (Advance Order)
In these ghostbusting manga tales a possessed fashion designer offers a spring line aimed to displease; a cantankerous theater critic haunts a new production of a big budget musical; Ray learns that catching ghosts isn’t ALWAYS exciting; Egon has a touching moment with a spectral spook; and Winston shines when the boys go from busters to bustees to a quartet of peeved off poltergeists. Busting never felt so good!
What cha’ gonna read? Ghostbusters-manga! • 5 x 7.5″ • 192 pg
Item is due to ship by late September, 2008.
We are unable to guarantee the availability of limited edition Advance Order items. In rare circumstances the supplier may not deliver a full order to us.
Advance Order dates are subject to change without notice. However, in most cases your Advance Order will ship on the scheduled release date to the commercial marketplace.”
The original article is here, although I cannot tell you how annoying it is that not previews, nor TokyoPop has this listed on their sites anywhere.

And with that, I am off to find some other way of ignoring my insomnia! : )
I’ll be getting mine!
Sounds like the last one with Winston, sounds vaguely like “Peoplebusters”.
There was a previous GB manga? What “one”?
Roy was referring to the last story in the Tokyopop collection, not a previous manga book, Jonathan.
I was reading an article today on Newsarama ( http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080626-TokyoPop3.html) that briefly mentioned the Ghostbuster’s manga so I looked up the artist.

Looking pretty sweet if you ask me!
Everyone’s saying four stories. Am I the only one who realizes that the blurb mentions FIVE stories in the book not four? (1) a possessed fashion designer offers a spring line aimed to displease; (2) a cantankerous theater critic haunts a new production of a big budget musical; (3) Ray learns that catching ghosts isn’t ALWAYS exciting; (4) Egon has a touching moment with a spectral spook; and (5) Winston shines when the boys go from busters to bustees to a quartet of peeved off poltergeists.
I’m really scared about #4 because it has the potential to be some wishy-washy sappy garbage. I hope it ends up better than that.
