Profiles in history are auctioning off a prototype Slimer costume from Ghostbusters 2. While crude compared to the final costume, it’s pretty obviously a first crack at testing the use of an actor inside the suit. Cheers to Spideristic for beating the PiH newsletter to the punch.

After I posted it on the boards, I have come to realize many don’t consider the “Profiles In History” auctions to be very reliable. Although some of their other auctions like the Hoverboard from BTTF2 seems pretty real.
Their auctions are real, but they are a little lax with the background and value of items sometimes.
the slimer from gb2 looks hella-lame.
It’s why I’m convinced that wasn’t even anywhere near the Ghostbusters II production, Rob. It looks incredibly unprofessional for a Hollywood product, even for a prototype.
All this stuff needs to be put in some kind of Ghostbusters museum.
I would recommend that folks stay FAR away from this item. There’s nothing about it to suggest production use, including the very material from which it’s constructed (we’ve all seen the many, MANY sculpts of Slimer).
PIH’s reputation is spotty at best; as an experienced buyer, I submit that it’s up to folks to do their OWN leg work. In this case, unlike previous PIH auctions (which have included items directly from those involved in production), provenance is esentially nonexistent; this is highly problematic.
That is, of course, not to mention its general appearance. I, personally, wouldn’t touch it.
