Real Ghostbusters box set art - VOTE NOW!
Posted on July 19, 2008

Well, this is it! TVShowsOnDVD.com has a page up where you can cast your vote for which box art concept you prefer. I highlight the word “concept”, so the comments don’t fill up with, “that looks bad.” These are not final art, but examples of what they have in mind. The final art, to be determined by you, will be different. The site even explains specifically that budget, time, resources, etc. will likely alter the final product. But that’s not important - what’s important is that you get to pick your favorite.
Both designs will be a slide case, with 6 disc cases inside. What’s really exciting is that both designs will have lenticular art, making it look like slime is oozing down the side of the front of the box! If you’re gonna have slime, it might as well ooze.
Judging from some of your comments when the contest was first announced, you’re going to be very happy with the options. Also, for those of you with Digg account, we should consider supporting TVShowsOnDVD.com, who have been big proponents of TV DVDs in general, and RGB DVDs specifically, and help spread the word - go Digg the article, and see if we can’t get it on the front page!

That was easy! I picked the firehouse - a clearly superior bit of artwork! I can’t wait! This is all so exciting!
I voted for the black artwork. To me it has a much sleeker design. The firehouse is more of an ugly photoshop patchwork.
Bare in mind Wesley, the final Firehouse one will likely be a lot nicer once they gave it the ‘proper’ go.
I voted for the Firehouse design. :)
Firehouse-Design!
Hope they change the firehouse-photo to an illustrated version as seen in the series… That would make more sense..
And I hope they straighten the RGB-title!
The different styles of the illustrations on Box 1 do not fit together and are overused…
The firehouse would be MONEY.
Imagine how cool it’d be with little lenticular goings-on in the windows…oh man, it’d be fabulous.
VOTE HOUSE, PEOPLES!
I voted for the firehouse version, but I think it’d be great if they could somehow combine the two.
Argh that was so hard, I ultimately went with the art over the firehouse, but I’d be more than happy with both. The lenticular slime is a phenomenal touch. Can’t wait, I’m so glad they are doing this finally!
Firehouse. That was a no brainer. I can’t wait to buy these and watch the shit out of them.
The FIREHOUSE! here’s why:
The “slime” box features slime oozing down the side of the case, while the “firehouse” case includes animated scenes in the windows, and the ECTO-1 driving out the front doors.
I mean come on, stuff in the windows and ECTO-1!!!!!!! vote firehouse!!!!
Firehouse for me too.
Firehouse! I liked it better than the other one. The slime effect sounds awesome.. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Both look good, but I voted “Firehouse”. Man, that set is going to rock!
Firehouse here. The little blurb about the Ecto-1 coming out of the doors got me.
Wow. I had no idea the firehouse design would be so popular. It’s a neat idea, but it’s already been done (i.e.: Full House). I guess I’m more of a darker soul, so I voted for the darker design…but whatever. The lenticular design would make it up to me. Plus the basic fact that RGB is FINALLY coming to DVD!!!! I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford ‘em, but…at least I can buy them when/if I finally am able to…
Now I know how Indy must of felt when trying to decide which cup was the Holy Grail…
I voted for the Firehouse design, the “animated” Ecto-1 and scenes inside the windows did it for me.
Voted for the firehouse.
It’s such a great concept! I really hope that it looks like the firehouse from the cartoon… complete with a helipad for the Ecto-2.
Wow! I had been in a rush earlier and not realized that there would be animated windows and Ecto-1 in the Firehouse design… now it’s double firehouse! I love it even more now.
Why are they using a photo of the real firehouse–it doesn’t appear to have the sign up, nor the movie doors even! It would make more sense to use the firehouse as rendered in the cartoon.
Personally, I’d like to see the graphic from toward the end of the series opening, with the four Ghostbusters battling the mob of ghosts and Mr. Stay-Puft.
Re: Stephen
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! That would be prrrty cool, except it’ll prolly be inside the DVD(s) themselves; the cover art, IMO, shouldn’t be an exact replica of a scene from the film/TV-show…
Firehouse all the way, vote Firehouse people!
RE: Steven
They might’ve used a photo of the real Firehouse just to get the concept across.
I chose the one which shows the characters. C’mon! You gotta have the character on the cover!
Anyway, I just hope that they use artwork from the original artists and don’t put new artwork on it like the Thundercats dvd boxes which didn’t look very good at all.
I voted for the firehouse, but they could use art drawn by chimps and I’d still buy the set without hesitation
Troy (hearts) Time Life.
Firehouse Design. I’m hoping the art will follow the cartoon better than both concepts so far. The Black concept has art completely based for movie. The Firehouse is better only because not a great deal has changed between the movies and cartoons on the outside of the firehouse.
The firehouse got my vote… it looks great!!!
I voted for the firehouse as it’s a design that’s near and dear to my heart. [If certain people are lurking here, you know why :-)]
The inner box *might* have the iconic RGB group pose and Ecto-1 chase shot seen in the other design. We don’t know. So it’s possible that we could “have it both ways” - sort of speak.
And I’m sure that that’s just a quick mock-up of the firehouse to get the concept across. I’m sure that if approved, the firehouse will be drawn to the RGB model used in the series.
I just got an email from the people who are holding the voting asking me if I want to purchase them for presale at 10% off! go check the site again!
