Wow! I’m glad they’re not doing this halfway.
God, that’s good!
YES!
At first I was undecided because of the price, but honestly it’s worth it considering all the extra features it comes with.
Ok, I got the confirmation and I didn’t get a discount. It charged me 179.99 plus S and H and it wouldn’t let me mail it to my brother’s house as the surprise gift it’s supposed to be… I’m already worried. No another Sebastien, I hope…
This is so great! Compared to what we get, it’s not much money! Really a *must have* for Ghostheads!!!
Sorry for double post- Called Time Life and they can’t do anything for 72 hours for me. I explained the situation and he said I had to wait. This is frustrating…
WOW! This may just be the best quality dvd package of an animated series so far!
We’re VERY lucky to get all of those extras.
I just hope that the audio tracks they’re referring to are the one’s that Levy did. I want every single full length composition.
Beezer, it sucks, but if it’s any consolation, you may have taken a bullet now in order to help us all out later – you found an annoying bug in the system. However, I wouldn’t worry about Time-Life being a fly-by-night company. It’s Time-Life after all. They’re huge!
The price is about right. 40 episode collections usually run about $60 right off the bat. 147 episodes for $180 is in the ballpark.
However, the price surprises me because Time Life really sets high prices for everything they offer, and with all the bonus stuff I really think this is a good deal… not to mention the %10 off by pre ordering now
Yeah I just pre-ordered and didn’t get the 10% off either… oh well they have like 3 months to fix it.
I can’t wait.. Can’t preorder right now but i will..All that bonus features.. I can’t wait… This set is going to be awesome…
“The original promotional pilot for The Real Ghostbusters, NEVER BEFORE AIRED”
Wait… could it be… animation like the ORGB commercials?
*swoon*
That’s speculation, mind you. But an un-aired pilot episode? Strange that no one ever mentioned it before this.
It seems that they were listening to what the fans wanted on this one. I’m pre-ordering mine next week!!!
Woah… pricey…. At least they’re doing a first class release. I was afraid it might be bare bones and old transfers when they finally got around to releasing RGB.
Time Life emailed me to say they’re aware of the preorder discount not working and they’ll fix it tomorrow and credit those people that were charged the full amount. No need to worry about it; everything will be taken care of.
Gord
179.99!!!!!!…well if this were anything besides ghostbusters I wouldn’t pay it..but since it is ghostbusters it’s worth every penny..lol
*I.Am.So.Going.To.Have.A.Heartattack!!…The FULL PROMO!! FINALLY!! All these years living with the two [nay three if you count the one found only on YouTube] promo commercials – Now the FULL PRESENTATION!!…
*F’ing YES!!…I’m currently unemployed but I’m not even worrying about the list price…I’ve been waiting more than half my life for this!!
*I’ll find the money somehow!!
*Cheers.
For those of you who pre-ordered: when you clicked the order button on that pre-order page, did the order automatically go through or was there a confirmation page where you could review the order/put in promotion codes/change quantities/etc. before the order is finalized?
Groschopf: It was long speculated that the ‘promo’ was longer than the two ABC promo adverts depicted, it was speculated to have at least been long enough to play the full rendition of the RGB cover of the Ghostbusters theme… but, if it was a full length pilot episode that ran to the same length as a standard episode… then we could be in for a treat, but I’m gonna try not over speculate despite how fantastically awesome this announcement is.
Great news. Hope they include Rolf Harris’ ‘Slimer won’t do that’ doc too.
This news made my day… When I know the no-disscount bug is fexed, I´ll preorder my set box.
Just one question… they never told anything about spanish subtitles, uh?
I´m worried.
It’s all been said already so all I have to say is FANTASTIC! I’ll pre-order mine soon.
Do you guys know if this will be a limited run? My best option, right now, for getting this is to wait until January 2009 when I’ll pay a visit to some friends in the U.S. You think it will still be available then? Well, if not there’s always eBay…
Hope this DVD set be available at amazon sometime in the future cause it saids “not available in stores” and i dont see an international order option in it. :0(

Time-Life only ships to the US.. I’m sure the international Time-Life sets will have this up in due time as well. Same thing happened with Get Smart.
Time Life had an exclusive with “Get Smart” in what seems to be a similar fashion to this set. “Get Smart” is now being released in season sets in stores for a lower price, but to my understanding, they do not include ANY special features that were on a seperate disc according to this news item: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Smart-Season-1/9778
So, if you want to call this a precedence, it may be possible that there will be season sets, but not necessarily with bonus features or extra discs. Hope that makes some kind of sense. And keep in mind this is all speculation on my part.
I can’t wait for this to come out. Was a die hard ghostbusters fan since I was born in good old 1985. I wonder if the original unaired pilot is those previews of the real ghostbusters when they still had them as the boys in grey and not the character specific colors?
Does anyone know if you are able to use promo codes or order more than one of these at a time?
Come on, some of you have obviously ordered this. All I’m asking is if, once you clicked the “order now” button, your order was automatically sent, or if you were taken to a page that allowed you to enter promotional codes or change the quantity you’d like to order. Doesn’t anyone know the answer to this question?
In case anyone doesn’t know, and I’m only going to give this information out only once, there is an official url for the box set that is substantially shorter than what’s going around:
http://www.realghostbustersdvd.com
You could also use the full direct url if you want, too.

I doubt that there are any unaired episode-length pilots. Undoubtedly, it’s the full promo pilot, of which we’ve only see bits and pieces in smaller promos, such as those on Spook Central.

Lanny, this set is definitely bank-robbery-worthy… not that I’m endorsing that

I think it’s safe to say that Time-Life will be selling it for a few years at least. They kept the Get Smart set exclusive for two years, and even though that can now be bought in stores (sans bonus features), Time-Life is still selling the sets (which have the bonus features). So I think you can relax. The set will still be available for sale come January 2009 – just not with the pre-order discount.
no international shipping…
So sad…
cmoney- It seems it doesn’t even let you review your order as far as I could tell. I entered my Billing address and card number and hit the button and it was ordered. I couldn’t add the shipping address I wanted to send it to and couldn’t enter promo codes. You enter your info on that page and your card is charged immediately and ordered. I’m still waiting my 72 hours impatiently until I can call Time Life to get my refund for not giving me the 10% discount and to change the shipping address… Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot, Beezer, that is exactly the information I was seeking. Sadly, it makes this offer a lot less tempting, given that I’ve been hearing the shipping costs have been running nearly $20.
Cmoney-Shipping and handling was $17.99 to Ohio, which seems high compared to ebay shipping prices, but I’m sure Time Life have their reasons. :/
i was just wondering is this avalible to b shipped to the U.K?..ive tried and it seems it your only able to buy it if u live in the U.S
I live in Canada does this mean I cannot order the set?? There has got to be a way!!
There is a way – TL has an ordering system for Canada. I will be posting details about that as soon as I get them.
72 hours have come and gone…I called up, sat on hold for 20 minutes and had a 10 minute conversation with a cool representative that tried really hard to help me. Apparently now, it can take “up to a week” for an order to enter the system. In their defense for being on hold, they said severe weather was limiting their help lines. So, almost 74 hours now and my order is lost in cyber space. Apparently there is now a confirmation screen where you have to input a coupon code before placing the order? Anyone who ordered the day it was released and when it was fixed can you verify? I remember being taken directly to a screen that said the order was placed. Any help is always appreciated! Thanks fellow ghostheads!
