The freshly rebranded Ghotbusters video game website (all references to Sierra have been replaced with Activision) has the third of six mini-games up and running. In “Containment Unit”, you have to quickly empty traps into the containment unit while Winston stalls Walter Peck upstairs – completing the game nets you a new banner, and new concept art (a wallpaper of the trap, but of course.) So, get to it – those traps aren’t going to empty themselves! But be warned… it gets fast real quick! Be sure to watch the tutorial first.
Thanks to Mike for the heads-up.
[UPDATE] It appears that the game sites outside of North America haven’t been updated yet. Hopefully the game will go online for everyone tomorrow.

why did the game get rebranded?
Interestingly, they haven’t changed the UK version of the site and the new game isn’t up.
Big company merger that started last year and finalized just now – what used to be Vivendi Universal Games (which included Sierra) is now Activision Blizzard. So, I’m not sure what Sierra makes of if it’s days are done as a company, but the GB will be going out as an Activision title now.
The third game isn’t there.
There’s also a problem with the quiz (the first game). For the question “how much does the proton pack weigh” no matter what answer you select it always automatically chooses the answer “30 pounds”. There’s something wrong with the site.
The game’s up for me and it’s pretty sweet. Very addictive.
And I kind of like that Activision is releasing the game. Surely I’m not the only one who remembers that they were involved in the GBII PC game.
No, you’re not the only one… though it seems I may be the only sad old man here that remembers they published the original GB games as well.
It’s a nice bit of historical symmetry, that’s for sure.
I cleaned 47 traps…beat that!
all references to Sierra have been replaced with Activision
If you want to get technicaly and nitpicky – and for fun, why not? – the only Activision reference is on the navigation menu banner at the top of the US site. The main page and the other country pages all feature Sierra’s logo in the nav bar, and the Sierra logo is prominently displayed amongst the bugs at the bottom of every page. I’m sure they’ll all be changed by October.
Although I have no issues with Sierra, it does my heart good to see the Activision logo adorn the top of the game site, and I hope it adorns the game when it’s released in a few months. Activision held the license for Ghostbusters games back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, so it’s nice that this new game is kept “in the family”.
By the way, in case no one noticed, the list of Ghostbusters sites has gotten a MAJOR update. It now features 10 fan sites and 3 official sites. Spook Central is FINALLY on the list, right below Proton Charging, which is just below the three official sites at the top. I like the placement
