Two Bernies gone in two days: Brillstein & Mac. So sad.

IMDB just posted some info on who went to his memorial service earlier in the week:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stars Pay Last Respects To Brillstein
August 13, 2008
From wenn.com
The stars came out to honor Hollywood mogul Bernie Brillstein on Monday as the legendary manager/producer was laid to rest in Tinseltown.
Longtime clients Jennifer Aniston and Rob Lowe remembered the TV and movie heavyweight, while Dan Aykroyd and James Belushi reunited as The Blues Brothers for the memorial service at Royce Hall.
Martin Short and TV mogul Lorne Michaels also attended the event, which was closed by a performance of Rainbow Connection by Brillstein's favorite Muppet, Kermit The Frog.
The producer died last week, aged 77.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's nice that Dan and Jim Belushi paid respect to him that way.

Bernie Brillstein AND Bernie Mac, They're connected too: Bernie Mac replaced Bill Murray in "Charlies Angels: Full throttle".

What a sad year this is turning out to be.

Also of Brillstein-Grey. His production company with Brad Grey, who, of course, now runs Paramount.

I worked on Newsradio which was a Brillstein-Grey production.

Very sad.

I have to admit, this news this morning was like a swift kick in the back knocking the wind out of you...

Brillstein was responsible for the success of so much, including the majority of the successful SNL cast members (pick up the book Live from New York and read it cover to cover... then read it again).

Point being that Brillstein was such a key component in the works for people like Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, John Belushi, and countless others - and brokered the deals for so many of the films and shows they were involved in that you wouldn't be sitting here today reading anything related to Ghostbusters without him.

Above all that though, Brillstein was a nice guy - granted, he had a temper and if you crossed him, he was no push-over. But he was old Hollywood in a business-suit shark laden new Hollywood world. And he and his agency continued to thrive.

This such a sad loss here in town, I can't even continue to explain.

Rest in Peace, Bernie.

I was just watching Summer Rental last night with a friend, and remarked aloud that it was a good sign that Bernie Brillstein was involved. Wow.

It's a great shame he won't be able to see the game version of one of the most popular properties he helped produce.

Goodspeed, Mr. Brillstein.
