Remember back at the beginning of September I mentioned that I had it on good authority that the game was still alive, that a publisher was about to land, and that it would push the game’s release well into 2009? And remember how I said that one of the frontrunners to publish the game was Atari? Well, it’s not official until Sony speaks up, but Dan Aykroyd let the cat out of the bag on morning radio in Dallas (see Dan arriving on motorcycle here), saying that Atari would be the publisher for the Ghostbusters video game. He also cautioned that the game was still a year off because of the change of hands.
Big ups to Brendan for the tip – see, you’re not always late to the party!

I’m Down with that, i am looking forward to the game, but because we have gona looooooong periods (droughts if you will) with little to no gb merch/news/anything, i can wait a little while longer.
What a year constitutes is still up in the air – I figure it simply means an exact release hasn’t been nailed down, and Aykroyd approximated a year being sometime between June and October of 2009.
50 Cent: Blood on the Sand fell to the same fate as Ghostbusters, and has recently been acquired by THQ and is going to be released around Christmas. I find it hard to believe that Ghostbusters is going to be pushed back all the way to October of 2009. I would guess Q1 2009 as reported on IGN.
Well shite.
The longer it’s delayed, the less exited I am about this game. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still buy it, but dang, I feel like my balls are blue.
Finally something official..I don’t even care that I have to wait as long as I now know it’s definately happening..itsn’t wierd that Atari is publishing it..that’s really random I had my money on EA or Rockstar.
Um..Rockstar? Where did you get that one Patrick? I mean first of all Rockstar is a developer not a publisher and secondly they were never mentioned ever, not even as a rumour.
Anyway by a year I think it’s say that he merely means 2009. If the game is finished they won’t sit on it for a full year. But after everything we’ve been through already who knows?
This is horse shit that 50 cent can get his stupid fucking rap crap kill everyone in sight game out before ghostbusters. How many more games do we need about being a gangster and dealing drugs and stupid shit like that. Fuck 50 cent lets publish GHOSTBUSTERS ALREADY!!!!!!
So a year year? as in October next year? or as in June next year?
Oh yeah and PS
FUCK 50 Cents worthless piece of shit game… there is NO, NO reason to ever put his name on anything…
I dont rant like this on here ever (sorry), but really, 50 cent as a soldier in Iraq? Riiiiiiight, thats like saying the sonuvabitch is talented…
Atari sounds pretty solid to me, i’m game. Also an interesting but probably wrong theory….someone mentioned that it doesn’t exactly mean October 2009, and since a lot of the game is in the can, i don’t think much needs to be done(could be wrong but i’m not sure.)What if they attempt to coincide the game release with the announcement of Ghostbusters 3? I’m probably way off, but hey, stranger things have happened…
For what it’s worth, Amazon says June 2009.
Go Atari.
There’s a small chance that Sony could delay the game further to coincide with GBIII, but that’s a bit of a stretch.
I got a feelin that it’ll see the light of day feb/march/april next year. Although i wouldn’t at all b surprised if they wait till oct again just to say “this fall who you gunna call” again. But personally, i’d be shocked if it was any l8er than june.
I’m gunna go with March.
That´s good news… but one year more??? Damn!!
Did anyone see BILL MURRAY on Conan O’Brien last night? He talked about the ghostbusters game.
Ummm…Chris, the “Dan on Motorcycle” pics you linked to are (according to the site) dated May 11, 2007. So those wouldn’t be from his recent appearance on the station. Still cool pics, though.
