While they were supposed to announce their products on their special Ghostbusters site, Master Replicas is apparently having a little technical difficulty. But rather than let Halloween pass with no word, MR made a short post on their main site.
Happy Halloween!
-Ghost Trap Limited Edition 1:1 scale with lights, sounds and other features. ETA: Spring 2009
-Proton Pack Limited Edition 1:1 scale with lights, sounds and other features. ETA: Fall 2009
Other products will be announced shortly. This is only the beginning!
Colour me surprised – I didn’t think they’d go for a 1:1 scale proton pack. That’s going to be one pricey piece of beautiful. Thanks to Brendan and Daniel.

Excuse my naivety but 1:1 is actual size right?
Yup, that is a full scale and is going to be some twinkie. Another thing to add to my check list.
Any speculation on price? My only MR experience is with star wars. The prop replicas were ridiculously expensive. (500ish for light saber hilt. These don’t seem to be prop replicas, as far as built the same way the props were, but just really good look a likes with electronics. They I think would be more similar to the force fx sabers, which ran about 100 a piece (and are awesome). I’m guessing a trap, since it needs moving parts, unlike the light sabers, but its roughly the same size I’m thinking 150-200. The packs, i cant imagine being less than 500, but depending in the complexity of the assembly (prop-like with lots off different recreated parts assembled, or more broad casts and large parts, while not accurate to the building of the prop, still looks the same), 1000 wouldn’t surprise me. I may never own them, but i can dream
From the gbfans.com forum a rep from Master Replicas stated they’re shooting for the trap to be under $300 and the pack to be under $1000.
I just don’t have the money for the pack, but I think if they keep the trap under $300 then I could definitely snag one of those. I’d be perfectly happy with a trap. But if this really is only the “beginning”, I’ll have to wait and see what the PKE meter looks like.
Wow. It’ll probably take a lot of coin to afford those.
If they’re $500 or under? I’m in.
Otherwise, I’ll just build another pack… unless they’re truly dynamite. I hope we get pricing far before Halloween.
Oh, and the traps? I’d drop $200 on a screen accurate one. I’d spend more to make one, but that be for the experience of making it.
Yeah I wouldn’t expect one of the 1:1 scale packs to sell for less than $5K, easy.
I’m honestly rather shocked to hear they’re going for the full out proton pack replica myself, i’m curious to know if they’re putting in the barrel extension mechanism among other smaller details, being that they said “…and other features…”
…i’m starting to save my money today.
I’m really excited about this! I have to say I never in a million years thought they’d do a full scale proton pack.
Finally getting a prop of the pack from MR is a sweet deal, especially since they can mass produce the electronics to hopefully bring the cost down.
I can’t wait to hear what is said about the traps because my birthday is at the end of April.
I liked their lightsabers, but after seeing what MR did for the Halo energy sword, I am not that excited. That, and it took me $1000 to build three packs, and that was when I didn’t know what I was doing. I hope the end result is a quality product worth its money — that’s all.
Master Replicas? A quality product? Heh, only if they rip it off from someone else’s moulds as they often have been caught doing. I guess they figure securing the license allows them to steal from other people’s hard work, recast it, and sell it as their own now calling it “official”. Based on past performance I’m not expecting it to be good or inexpensive, only “available”. …and really, isn’t that all they’re shooting for? Their rep is already tarnished to me.
I know i am going to get a Trap, as i already have a pack, (built By Norm, Thank-you Norm) and if they come out with the smaller stuff like PKE and Ecto Goggles, i will snag those when they come out as well. Whenever i get some money that is…..
Amendment – Since my above post I’ve found out that MR may be a different place under the management of Corgi. The previous MR was known for ripping off other people’s creations and labeling it as their own. It’s possible that the new MR may be ethical. Time will tell. Many of us will be watching carefully.
The http://www.5552368.com site is now live.
I just hope everything will be released in time for Halloween 2009! When I first heard the announcements for the products, I etched my costume idea in stone. I think a JUMPSUIT and maybe the elbow pads would go nice with all of this.
MR cancelled the Ghostbuster props as of February. They never were released to the public. No word as the official reasoning. Most likely a license issue or money issue. It is very disappointing.
