Anybody who has pre-ordered a copy of the Real Ghostbusters DVD set has or will get a letter from Time-Life – the letter explains that elements of the Firehall box set that were included as extra awesome are adding to the production time of the boxes – This means they do not expect to have sets to ship until November 25th.
HOWEVER!
They have a plan, that will more than set the matter straight;
We know this will come as a disappointment to many, so we have decided to provide all of our pre-order customers with FREE FedEx Express shipping. Our standard shipping time is 2 weeks, so you will still get your set in the same timeframe (probably sooner)!
When you see all the fantastic features this collection has to offer, we’re sure you’ll agree it was worth the wait. So charge up your proton packs…The Real Ghostbusters is almost here!
Sincerely,
A. Davis
Time Life, Customer Care ManagerP.S. The credit or debit card you used to pre-order this set will be charged the week of November 25 when we package your collection to ship.
Please note, this only applies to orders made prior to November 15th (that’s this Saturday!) – anybody holding off until after the 15th can expect delivery around December 10th or later. So, if that’s not a great reason to pre-order, I don’t know what is. Look at it like this – pre-order, use the awesome discount codes Time-Life has offered (SLIMMER in the US and SLIMER in Canada), and get free shipping that will arrive, in all likelihood, quicker than regular shipping.
[UPDATE] The SLIMER code works for both US and Canadian pre-orders.

The SLIMMER code expired. The SLIMER codes still works on both site and that nets $15 off.
So is there still a US discount code?
Yeap, you can use SLIMER, I used it about 2 weeks ago and worked.
I can´t wait for getting this on my hands, but that 10 days delay but free shipping worths the wait.
Ugh. Used a code specifically to get 10% off AND free shipping. Oh well. As long as I get my dvds
It just wouldn’t be Ghostbusters without some sort of delay.
But, at least they’re nice enough to pay for express shipping. How many companies would do that when something is delayed?
Oh, and here’s a better code (expires Nov 17th):
AFPUMPKIN – 15% off and $5 shipping code (which is $27 off total).
Good stuff…
I can’t wait to spend a few days reliving my childhood. LOL
I don’t wanna complain about the delay, it’s really not that bothersome, but damn how’s come almost everything Ghostbusters is delayed?
Because stuff is often delayed, and as a group following products from the moment their announced, we notice delays. The rest of the world thinks they all come out on time.
It’s the price you pay to be on the bleeding edge of something, anything.
That makes sense.
Zuul – I was going to mention the AFPUMPKIN code, but I figured with the shipping already being free, having a code that sets it to $5 might end up not making it free anymore.
Hey, if you’ve already paid for the set, can you still get the discount?
Barry – You’d have to cancel your order and re-order.
Just ordered my 5 mintues ago over the phone… got both the SLIMER code discount and the Free Fed Ex shipping for under $160!!!!!!!!!!!
Had to tell them about it otherwise they wouldn’t have given it to me…
it kinda sucks. it seems like everything related to ghostbusters always gets delayed. the new game, these dvds, and even the news on the new props for sale was delayed. im hoping theres not another delay on the dvds but i think there might be.
I just got a response back from TimeLife which clarifies some of the confusion going around.
In short, the free FedEx Express shipping offer is an UPGRADE which is applied manually when your order is billed. It won’t show up in the cart. Place your order as normal with standard shipping, for which you’ll be billed appropriately, and it’ll be upgraded to FedEx Express shipping at no additional cost.
With that in mind, I think I can safely say that using the AFPUMPKIN coupon code gives the best deal available.
By the way, Canadians can’t use the AFPUMPKIN code. The best code available to you guys is SLIMER, which takes $15 off the item price.
Does anyone know if this set is ever going to be released outside the US/ Canada?
So, where on earth do you enter the code when ordering? I’m looking at the page, but don’t see a field to enter anything with the other required info – is this a “call only” sort of deal? Or can you input the other info first and then the code after that step?

Maybe if it sells really well, Sony will grant TimeLife the worldwide rights (assuming another company doesn’t already have them). Otherwise, TimeLife is limited to North America only.
I know that sucks, but you have to blame Sony for that. not TimeLife. I know full well that TimeLife would LOVE to sell it worldwide and make as much money as possible!
