Game Cinema has put up two new videos, one is a gameplay trailer with lots of footage of the game in action and the other is a video showing everything from the start up of the game all the way through your first training bust… with the help of Dr. Peter Venkman. This game is going to be awesome!
The gameplay trailer has some amazing sights, particularly the various weapon types (BOSON DART!), but the trainer level has everything you want – Bill Murray dialog, the destructible environment, using the throwers to wear a ghost down, slamming them to get them into the trap, overheating packs, dodging ghost attacks, the ecto-goggle/PKE combo, and even the suggestion that – as you’d expect – walking into someone else’s stream isn’t a good idea. As well, we get a taste of how the movie soundtrack will be used in the game – it works really well!
Be sure to go to Game Cinema (links above) for the HD version of the clips! Thanks to Timo, Hunter, and Kevin for the heads up!

Niceeeeeeee
Love love love, the look Venkman gives Ray in that opening cinematic (the gameplay trailer).
Both are amazing clips. That tutorial level is going to be a blast to play, and Bill Murray’s dialogue at the end of that level had me rofl. The other clip, the trailer had my jaw hitting the floor. My god, the cut scenes are AMAZING. Like Mark DeRidder said, that look Venkman gives Ray…priceless. I don’t know if I can wait till June to play this. They keep giving us just a taste every few days…they’re driving us all mad. lol
This is too ill. I’m selling a kidney for a 360.
They further enhanced the cut-scenes on the gameplay trailer. They REALLY do look like Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd
I’d say Ray looks less like Aykroyd now in some of the shots, but everything can change depending on the angle and lighting as was also seen in the cinematics. Now Murray on the the other hand, it’s pretty amazing how much it looks like him.
Activision is sooooooooooooooooooooooo going to regret dropping this.
Oh My GGGGOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in heaven! I seriously must be dreaming! This is too rad to be real. Well, if I am dreaming, PLEASE, for the love of everything HOLY, don’t wake me up. Cause I don’t want to. This is too good.
This is going to be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
That scene/level with Bill and the recruit. Pure geneious, hilarious, spot on! Just too good, very nice work!
My only gripe is with the new “trailer”. What happend with Dan Aykroyd’s character design? All the photos and the trailer previous he looked spot on. Now he looks too “chubby”,worn-out, “cartoony” for lack of a better term. Especially when he thunbs-up at the end there. I hope he doesn’t look like that in the game.
This really does look incredible. I understand where people are concerned about how Aykroyd looks… Though it has more to do with lighting than it does anything else. I mean, these are the same excellent models we saw in the original trailers — just enhanced. I think its important to remember just how much a persons face can change even when turned slightly, factor in the light … etc etc. Case in point — consider 90% of all the self-shot Myspace “angle” photos… nuff said. Consider this too, look at how spot on all the REST of the detail is, does anyone really think they would go in and just BOTCH one of the major contributors look? This game is going to own lives, mine included.
PS. This is an odd question from me and maybe its because I dont know games that well, but do they ever “mix” audio in to sound more environmental? Like I know some people commented how Venkmans remark felt stiff, but I think thats only because they seem laid over the top of the mix, rather than in… its so damn minor, and really just a curiosity on my part…
PPS.!!! (could be old news) Slavitza Jovan (?) to return as Gozer in the game! According to Imdb cast list…
That training level has me drooling. I can’t wait to tear up the Sedgewick chasing Slimer. The best thing though is how it says “Start demo” in the beginning – does this mean we can expect a demo on the 360 in the next couple months!? I need to finally at least try the game out, or my head will explode. Maybe.
By the way, I hope the decision to drop Ghostbusters comes back to haunt Activision, pun intended.
Gentlemen… we´re watching the best game of the year: GHOSTBUSTERS
According to someone who works for Terminal Reality, whom posts on the GB.NET message board, the character models are exactly the same….
I don’t know if I’m buying it though; Stantz looks too different. I actually thought they tweaked the look of the rookie at first, until I noticed that the scene was a re-worked version of the trailer released back in December.
Hopefully it gets ironed out by June.
This game looks incredible. I wish Murray put more effort into his line readings. You can tell he was just reading it off the page as they recorded it. That doesn’t mean the game won’t rock though! I can’t wait!
~Watches Gameplay Trailer~ Ha! I knew that funky looking chamber atop the Ecto-1 had to be a miniature portable containment unit!
Mark just be happy he agreed to have voice and likeness IN THE GAME!
Something just occured to me..in the gameplay clip where everyone is saying Ray looks weird..is it possible that footage may be from the ps2 version?..i mean they did say i would look slightly different..the new trailer we saw where Ray looked awesome.that’s the nex-gen console version…this, liked i said could be from the ps2
how do u download the vid
Patrick – the PS2/Wii/DS versions of the Ghostbusters are different enough you’d never wonder if that’s what you were looking at here. It’s extremely cartoony.
I think what we’re seeing here is a problem all CGI likenesses have – they’re not alive. They are static and their textures, while made to look alive, are quite plastic. All this means they look great at certain angles, and less great at others. If you go back and watch all the videos, there are moments – sometimes just a moment between times to look good – when they don’t look like themselves. There’s not much that can be done short of using real actors – the cost of micro-detailing that away, would be like spending the whole budget a second time to squeeze 5% more out of the art. We’d never admire the results more than we’d complain about the pricetag.
Derek – Caps, spelling, and punctuation and we’ll work from there, unless someone else can help you.
I’ll ask again, how do you download the video and save the video into a file, like how you can take the files and upload them on Youtube
There are various ways – some sites, it’s hard as the source files are masked. In others, they’re not, in which case you can see them in the code and download them manually. And a few sites give you links to download.
I think it looks pretty good… I still think there are some Sedgewick issues… The ballroom is very accurate to the movie, but the lobby and the outside where the Ecto is parked is not so well done… The Ecto is parked in a court yard, yet it is clear in the movie that there is a busy street in front of the entrance… The area where the manager is looks very bland too… Also, why do they have to rehash the same storylines from the movies? Did they really need to have that uptight manager this time around?
Also, I hope that the score isn’t as prominent as it is in that video. I would get sick of it in no time. I’d hope there is some original music based on Brillstein’s work, but not just a carbon copy of it. I know there are some things they have to do to attract us hardcore fans, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be some originality in the game… I like Venkman’s sound much more than I did in the first trailer… He actually sounds like Venkman now!
Also, Winston is conspicuously absent from the trailer type video… Poor Winston.
i think Venkman’s voice work is perfect..i mean he is teaching the ROOKIE to catch a ghost..Venkman has this dull, dry sense of humor and its perfect for the given scene because he is a pro at what he does.
Stayinpuft, I can understand ur point on Brillstein’s work getting old quick but i think it really sets the tone for the game overall…i bet if they didnt have the music score playing while u were battling out with ghost, you’ll be complaining
im glad there is in-game cutscenes and not just CGI. This game is going to be the best and as a HUGE fan…i couldnt ask for more
“SO BE GOOD, FOR GOODNESS SAKE, WHOOOAAA SOMEBODY’S COMING….”
Or is the reason..the faces look different is that those vids aren’t from the game..they could’ve been just some rough scenes put together just for that vid.
Someone asked about downloading the vids. Try the website KEEPVID.COM . It works with Youtube and a lot of other video sites. It’s worth a try anyway.
Dude, those scenes don’t look rough too me. They look polished and ready. If this is how you’re acting now then you’re setting yourself up for huge disappointment later on.
Thanks Boyer, CNCGB, ill go try it
That keepitvi.com sucks, it wont let me play it. if i go into windows media player it will exit out
“Y’know, I thought that guy said Rodrigez bar mitzva…”
That’s a classic right there. LMAO.
Regular games just don’t do it for me… If it’s going to be Ghostbusters, it has to be done with an EPIC level of quality… GTA4 is my benchmark right now because it actually holds your attention for a long time and you don’t get bored of it quickly… It also looks great and mimics life to incredible details…
This GB video game has one civilian car model and the Ecto, that’s it… Like I hope they design 2 or 3 more just to add some variety as it looks like there is going to be alot of out door in-the-city levels… Imagine every single car being the exact same model…
If you look at the pictures that were posted of inside the Sedgewick, they suck. Doesn’t look anything like the movie period.
Also, more to my point about originality… If all this game is is rehashing levels from the movie and being in amazement that they got all the real actors to do the voices, we are in real trouble. I like how they have the new weapons and the puzzles, but it better be REALLY well done… It also needs new music and new levels apart from the movies. Ecto driving woulda been cool, but it doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen…
Meh
Well I’ll settle for a well done game that’s fun to play. That to me is the whole point, I don’t believe this is supposed to be some sort of mold breaking achievement in modern gaming. You’re also gonna have to accept that the Biltmore Hotel design from the 80′s just isn’t going to be used for the Sedgewick in the game. Although the NY public Library is dead on, just compare screenshots and real photos of the lobby and the reading room.
@Stayinpuft:
“If you look at the pictures that were posted of inside the Sedgewick, they suck. Doesn’t look anything like the movie period.”
Its been seven years since the guys were there. It isn’t unheard of for hotels to renovate and change things around.
The sound affects are spot on-(PKE, Slimer, Pack overload and Discharge, Stream, etc.)
The use of the original GB score in the scene is inventive and excellent…works very well!
Bill Murray’s VO is fun and hilarious, great job.
I could go on and on. But this is just too good….can’t wait till June!!!!!
man, i have such a good eye for things…has anyone noticed compared to old footage that he does not put away the neutrona wand before taking out the PKE meter? in old footages u can see the ghostbuster put away the wand, take out the PKE then when hes done he’ll grab the wand again…all he does now is go straight to the PKE which i think is wack..i like the old way better..i really hope they didnt change that feature.
Dude, why does that matter? You have a good eye for nitpicking insignificant things apparently.
Yeah putting away the wand to get the meter is really going to determine how cool this game is.
Great eye jack!

Don’t believe anything you read at IMDB, unless the information has been confirmed by Atari themselves. Anyone can add anything to IMDB, whether it’s true or not. I could have submitted a correction for it, but I’m waiting until the game is out and can see the cast list in the manual before I attempt to get the IMDB’s cast list to be accurate.
The Game Cinema videos, upon closer inspection, were recorded with a camera pointed at a monitor, as opposed to a direct video feed. You can see the edges of the monitor on the top and right of the video image. When recorded this way, the colors will never be accurate to the video source, as the lighting in the room and the luminescence of the monitor will always play a factor in how the video looks. So you can’t accurately compare the look of the character models in this video with that of the official trailers from Atari because of this.
Also, I see that I’m not the only one to find the delivery of the dialog to be flat and lifeless. I noticed this back in December with the Atari Live trailer. It sounds like someone who’s just started acting, not someone who’s been doing it for over 30 years. Since Bill has done a better job in Garfield, there’s no excuse for his VO – or anyone’s VO – to be that bad.
