The better part of a year ago, Terminal Reality executive producer Brendan Goss revealed in an interview that Alyssa Milano was part of the video game voice talent. While no details were given, it was considered a safe bet that she was the voice of the new love-interest for Venkman.
Well, with an amazing new video (that’s worth it for the new scenes and behind the scenes footage as it is for the interview with Ms. Milano), it turns out… she’s the voice of the new love-interest for Venkman. Dana v.2 if you will (though, to be fair, that’s just a description of her plot role – beautiful woman entangled unknowingly with the supernatural – same as Dana. The character, and Milano’s characterization, should be unique and interesting.) Go check out the video now!

[UPDATE] GBfans has the Variety magazine article on Milano, as well as an image of Milano’s character as seen in the Wii/PS2 version of the game.
ALSO! I just noticed, the game’s rated now – always suspected to be Teen, it’s official once they stamp it on trailers. T for Teen: Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence, and Mild Language. It’s ESRB-ese for PG-13.
[UPDATE] Atari has a press release on Milano and her character in the game, Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn, Archeologist. The whole thing, after the jump.
ALYSSA MILANO UNVEILED AS LOVE INTEREST IN UPCOMING BLOCKBUSTER TITLE ‘GHOSTBUSTERS: THE VIDEO GAME’
- Alyssa Milano Takes on the Role of Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn, Archeologist and Love Interest, in ‘Ghostbusters: The Video Game’ Coming June 2009 -
LYON, FRANCE – 20 March 2009 – Atari today unveiled Alyssa Milano as the new love interest in the forthcoming blockbuster title Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Alyssa Milano is best known for her roles in long running successful television series “Who’s the Boss”, “Melrose Place”, “Charmed” and most recently “My Name Is Earl” to name a few. Milano joins members of the original cast from the beloved Ghostbusters movies to recreate the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game prides itself in staying true to the Ghostbusters universe, so it just wouldn’t feel right if Bill Murray’s character, Dr. Peter Venkman, wasn’t turning on the charm. In Ghostbusters: The Video Game, he’s chasing one in particular: Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn is a smart and sassy archaeologist who doesn’t take too kindly to Dr. Venkman’s advances.
In the game, Milano’s character, Ilyssa Selwyn, is an expert in Sumerian and pre-Sumerian cultures and is visiting New York City as guest curator for the highly anticipated ‘World of Gozer’ exhibition opening in 1991 at the Natural History Museum. In the story line, Gozerian mythology has attracted a wide popular following since the still-unexplained events and attacks that occurred in the city in 1984. Ilyssa is working late at the museum the night before the opening when a cataclysmic force is unleashed and summons an ancient enemy back to New York City. Strange events continue to erupt around her: what secret does she know? It’s up to the Ghostbusters to help Ilyssa find the key and stop the forces of evil that threaten the balance of the universe. That’s if they can keep Peter Venkman from hitting on her every three minutes.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game, based on the smash hit motion picture franchise, is penned by original Ghostbusters writers and stars Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. The other original Ghostbusters, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. The player joins up as a new recruit with the original team, testing a variety of unique equipment and gadgets, to track, wrangle and trap this wide range of awe-inspiring phantasms in an all new funny and frightening battle to save New York City from its latest paranormal plague.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Games for Windows®, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ in North America on 16 June 2009 followed by worldwide release on 19 June 2009 to coincide with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film’s original theatrical release. For more information on Ghostbusters, please visit www.ghostbustersgame.com, and for Atari’s entire line up, visit www.atari.com.
Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II combined to gross over $500 million world-wide at the box office. The film spawned some of the most memorable comedic catch-phrases and scenes in motion picture history. To further celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary milestone this year, Sony Pictures Consumer Products has licensed the property for several new commemorative products including: toys, t-shirts, comic books, prop replicas, and a theme park attraction. In addition, the original Ghostbusters car (Ecto-1) has been fully restored with plans for special promotional appearances throughout the US and additional replicas touring across Europe. The Blu-ray Disc release of Ghostbusters will see unsurpassed picture and audio quality and advanced new bonus features including Slimer Mode, a picture-in-picture graphical viewing experience, a featurette on the refurbishing of Ecto-1, and more.

Saw this on GB.net earlier…very awesome. My only criticism is that the character “Ilyssa Selwyn” does not look like Alyssa Milano. Ironically enough the character resembles my Criminal Law professor.
The thing is that the character design was likely begun prior to them locking down a voice actress – unlike the ghostbusters. Everybody knows what the Ghostbusters are supposed to look like.
The IGN video shouldn’t be skipped – AJ has AP’s YouTube clip, whereas IGN has an excellent HD version (as well as a QT version you can download locally.)
I’m uploading the Official Atari Video.
I just uploaded the Official Fact Sheet for Alyssa’s Character.. Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn.
OK, at some point, a couple of people are going to have to calm down.
No offense castewar but the game has been sporting a rating ever since the Atari live trailer last December.
Wow…this just gets better and better. This game is going to rock!!! I can see the animation is and writing are FANTASTIC !!! It really is like GB3 where YOUR a part of it! LOL…This is too cool. The doors swing open at the begining there and the license plate reads “Ecto-1B”. And I love that line Alyssa say’s about Stay-Puft-”That giant white and blue, toy looking thing is climbing the building!”….ha ha ha! And Bill is just so great with his lines. I know it’s been said before. But…JUNE-CAN’T-COME-FAST-E.N.O.U.G.H!!!!!!!!!!
Ecto 1B anyone? What a way to open!
*What’s really funny is who would’ve known wayyy back in 1994 when Alyssa starred in the flop “Double Dragon”, to where in the movie she made a joke about one of the characters “looking like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man”, that she’d be playing Dr. Venkman’s love interest, in a video game serving as a sequel to the films no less, and having to “deal” with Mr. Stay Puft himself!
*The sweet sweet irony ;P…
*Cheers.
Chris, I’ve just never seen it before – it’s the voice that goes with it that usually registers with me. Actually, did they have the voice? They are required to have the voice. Now I have to go check again.
Thanks though. Really, at the end of the day, some revelations are just for me, y’know?
(smack)
It’s right there on the sidebar, in the countdown clock I made. What’s worse? Not noticing, or forgetting I’d noticed.
Getting old bites. As does this head cold.
Hmm I think the “rated T for Teen” voice is only for the TV spots but i could be way off.
LMAO…”Why don’t you all go away”..lol..i loved that part…vintage Peter Venkman
You can’t forget about Comedy Mischief.
Whoever said that the comedy would be spanned out across the 8-10 hours of play (in defense that in ONE scene Venkman seemed “dry”) was totally right. These characters are going to have A LOT of room to breathe for remarks and jokes and quips… And seeing this quick little glimpse into some more dialogue… should REALLY put any worries to bed! (NOT that anyone should have had them in the first place… sinners) lol
old news
Thanks fan4life. I probably should of made some mention to that effect… Hang on… I did!
Yahoo front page has a game clip about Weaver bailing on the game, nothing new, I was just like, ‘Front page of Yahoo, the game has Officially arived” Here’s the clip link if anyone is interested. http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/playback/playback-37/1298966
MS. Milano? She’s not married? She’s GOT to be SOMEBODY’S baby! Isn’t she like 30 years old or older? Well, I guess it’s a Hollywood thing; get married at 20-something or younger, get divorced less than 5 yrs later…yeah, I know this has nothing to do with GB…except for the mention of Alyssa Milano…but dang, she’s hot…(IMO)…I think she looks better now than she used to, and she’s never been ugly (or even close).
Yeah, the Windows PC/Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS version have been rated since December, but there’s still no rating for PS2/Wii version.
I think this “new actor/new character” reveal (images, trailer, and factsheet) might be the first of many over the next three months.
According to the character fact sheet, Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn works at a museum, is plagued by supernatural forces, plays violin proficiently, and is learning the cello. Sounds like Dana from Ghostbusters II. Not very original?
I do have to wonder if the character was named Ilyssa before Alyssa Milano took the role?
Oh great, it is Dana from GB2… Looks like the role was probably written for her, but Sigourney Weaver refused to come to the table, so…
