Atari’s Ghostbusters game blog at IGN has a new dev diary post, this time with Drew Haworth, Creative Director at Terminal Reality talking about the things that you won’t find in the final game and why. An interesting read, if still very backhanded at Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis for not being involved.
Thanks to ShadowSt. for the link.

I can’t be the only one who are glad Moranis and Weaver aren’t involved, can I?
No, I am too.
Dana is just as pointless to this as she will be in a third film. If she was in it, I’m sure it would have just revolved around her to some extent. Do we need a rehash of the first two films since this is considered a sequel?
It was funny reading that Louis was the original fifth Ghostbuster before ending up in a full body cast.
The funny thing is, I knew right off the bat, that ‘Proton” was Ghostbusters. I mean, what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word proton? Proton Pack!
No, I think of Proton Charging!
Total Protonic Reversal
Charging, pack, it’s both Ghostbusters to me… ha ha. I can’t believe no one guessed it before it was revealed.
Anyway, wanted to back you up, Evans. I’m also glad that there’s no Sigourney Weaver or Rick Moranis – well, I think I am. I have mixed feelings. Obviously we want Peter and Dana to find lasting love because in entertainment we like to get a sense of hope that wonderful things really can happen in this world – however I also know I was a butt recently in the GBfans forums saying that it was more realistic that Peter loses the person he thought was “THE girl” and goes through other relationships, either to eventually get back with Dana or to realize there’s someone better for him after all. Some sort of hint of missing Dana in the game would be desired, but not to an extreme. The way his character acted in GB2 was enough to tell us that he wouldn’t soon get over her. As for Tully, I’ll miss his character. He played a very different role in GB2 but was still present obviously. It would have been nice seeing him in a similar role, and that wheelchair bit would have done awesomely in my opinion (and proven that not just anyone can be given a proton pack and become a hero), but I’m definitely glad we’re not getting a rehash of the first two movies. Dana isn’t the only person in danger of the supernatural, but I have to admit that I am fearful of similarities between Ilyssa and Dana.
And so they say that video games based on the old Real GB cartoon are a possibility? Well, it’s never a good thing to tease a kennel of hungry dogs, but we’ll see.
i went to ign.com to see about the ps2 version of ghostbusters.but when i went to ps2 screenshots i saw photos of the realistic version of ghostbusters in the ps2 images.this may be possible that they will try to make the ps2 a tiny bit almost like the ps3 xbox 360 and pc.
I think it’s more likely that IGN screwed up and posted the wrong screen shots.
They posted the wrong ps2 screenshots everywhere.
This is fantastic! The game has grown and all the while TR has grown as a company. Very nice! And they were VERY correct seperating ANY elements of ANY of the animated GB serie(s) out from this game. Because-(as much as alot of fanboy’s don’t like to admit)-the film’s and animated series each have their own dedicated line of continuity. End of story. Period. And they should NEVER be mixed.
Interesting though…I wonder who the 5 parties that own the GB rights are? My guess is this-(in no particular order)-
1.Sony
2.Murray
3.Aykroyd
4.Reitman
5.Ramis
Oh…and add another vote for me for “don’t care at all” that Weaver and Moranis aren’t involved. It’s time for some new fresh blood and senarios other than the very core principles, in the GB universe!
