You’ll recall awhile back that PC found a Twitter account talking about a company called LootGear and their work making what sounded like Ghostbusters content for Sony’s Playstation Home.
We contacted Sony and got the word back – ithe official press release is not out, and specifics on the content were not available at this time, but it’s true. Playstation Home will be offering Ghostbusters content, a fact confirmed by LootGear on Twitter this morning.
The tweets suggest that customers will get a chance to own Ghostbuster jumpsuits for their avatars, there will be a firehall space, a drivable Ecto-1, some sort of flying Slimer gizmo, movies, and virtual memorabilia you can display in your virtual pad.
We figure you can expect that somewhere around June 16h, when the game and Blu-ray movies are released. To quote the latest Tweet from LootGear;
It is going to be a Home Space of Biblical Proportions.
None of this will be on Xbox Live? Lame. Understandable since it’s Sony’s baby but lame nonetheless.

This, and ONLY this, finally makes me want to utilize Home.
I do not like Home, I don’t know if it’s just me but when I HAD a Home account my guy was INCREDIBLY ugly.
It’s pretty lame as a whole but this makes me want to set it up again.
I want all that possible DLC on my XBlive… I think that we soon we´ll get it… Sony loves money, remember?
Yeah some DLC for the 360 would be nice. I highly doubt a jumpsuit for your avatar, but here’s hoping for at least a premium theme and some gamer pics.

this is great! home really needs stuff like this. the watchman stuff was ok but you can not beat GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!! would be nice if we could have proton packs that fired out the streams but the jump suits are a good start

i like playstation home. bowling and pool for free while meeting other people online. its going to be even better now running around with a gb jumpsuit on and with the firehouse as a hang spot…not to mention all the fun things they are going to throw into the hang spot…i smell haters lol

If Sony can make money from it, and they can, it will end up on X-Box Live DLC too.
I hate to, but I kind of have to be a downer about this content ending up on Xbox.
Sony does love money, as all corporations do, but this stuff is designed to make them long term money, buy making the PS3 more attractive. More PS3s means more game sales, etc. They are in a struggle with their rivals – they will not port content, so people can go, “Well, I don’t need to buy a PS3 then.”
And it would take porting, which is my second point – all that content is specific to Playstation Home. Xbox live does have an analog for half of it, and the stuff it does, like avatar clothes, their avatars are different – they’d essentially be making it from scratch.
It would be fantastic if they put out avatar clothes for Xbox, but it’s a long shot.
Figures that Sony would get the deal, no matter that their console IS IN LAST PLACE! I mean come on, where are the avatar clothes?
If Sony is really depending on Ghostbusters avatar costumes to sell PS3’s, thats pretty pathetic.

I feel your pain guys. I have both X-Box 360 and PS3, although the PS3 is currently out of action after the disc reader burned out (it’s out of warranty, so eventually I’ll have to shell out $150 to get it fixed).
Whenever I bought a game, exclusive stuff always came out for the system that I did NOT purchase the game for. And since I’m not about to re-purchase a game for the sake of exclusive content on another system… it just plain sucks.
Home is getting a lot better, though. It’s still in early phases but there are already a lot of places to go. A GB firehouse space sounds amazing. Running my avatar through the firehouse and driving ecto-1 sounds like a good time.
I refuse to pay 2 quid to get my avatar dressed up in a jumpsiut, and I also refuse to pay 5 quid for a firehouse which you can explore in the game anyway. Home is just a big pointless rip off which serves no purpose at all.
And Jeremy, if this wasn’t a timed exclusive in Europet then I’d be getting it for the 360 no questions, as I always have done with most other games.
