This reminds me a lot of that Return of the Ghostbusters fan film – same production qualities, same acting ability, same feel. At the time that came out, I remember posting some negative stuff, and I regret it. These fanfilms are, for the most part, not really to be judged as actual movies or shorts. Even the good ones with high budgets clearly stand out as distinctly unprofessional. I think we can all admit that these are made for the creators, giving them the ability to dress up as their favorite characters and feel that thrill of being on camera as a Ghostbuster (or Star Trek character on the bridge of the Enterprise, or Batman, or whoever). It’s an exercise in fun, and really shouldn’t be judged on its merits as an original film. I just don’t understand why people bother uploading them to the internet only to be shat on.

The way I look at it: it’s not a professional film, it’s not advertised as such, and it was made to entertain people. Obviously if you have this many problems with watching this, you most likely do not watch a majority of videos on youtube.

I’m going to give this film a chance, these guys have put serious man hours into this. More importantly, they are fans just like you and me.

Thank you. The film was shot in 16:9 and the letterbox was added later. Shots where we loose any of an actor are handcam shots for sure, but I assure you we DO know what a tripod is. This is White Tiger Filmz first feature length film and WAS a learning experience. In the next year we plan on 1 uping our production quality in every way. Would also like to apalogize for our facial hair…I guess. I was unaware a ‘buster’ should be clean shaven, however as people who have gotten passed pueburty we’ve developed this stuff that we’ve rather grown attached to. The internet is chocked full of opinions, but Casewar is running a very nice site here that I’ve relied on for years for GB related news andhe’s doing us a TREMENDOUS favor for even just given us a mention on his otherwise reputable page. For his sake, lets be nice. Bo….just. You’re too much, thanks…lol. Keep on busting guys, this will be fun.

“Not a lot of people will act for nothing”? That’s funny because I know for a fact that TONS of people will act for nothing more than lunch each day of a shoot- otherwise no one in film school would ever finish their projects with any manner of quality. I even know a couple of SAG actors here in the city who act for $1 with a signed SAG waiver.

More accurately, not everyone has access to actors is what you should have said.

All that aside, good job completing something, it’s rare that anyone does. One thing aside, you may want to adjust your frame to be a little more open- 2.39 does not a “Quality movie” make. Heck, and this assumes it was shot this way to begin with, but why not open it back up to 16:9? That way everyone has at least a little bit of headroom in the MCU/CU shots and doesn’t seem so cut off(I had this same critique for RotGBs).

You are all correct, not all of my freinds can act. However, not a lot of people will act for nothing either. Please keep that in mind, This is not a low budget movie, it is essentially a NO budget movie. For what we had I am extremly impressed with our product and I hope you all can atleast enjoy it to some degree when it comes out. Even just to poke fun at it. Live long and prosper.

No I said it because it’d make them look more believable as being professionals in anything and not like out of work college stoner d-bags. Have you never heard the phrase “Dress for the job you want”? Why are you getting so defensive anyway? Coming here time and time again to rip on people giving out some constructive criticism and just cutting into them for nothing is very bush league. I like it, although it seems like I’m watching a couple of robots talk on endlessly about stuff.

Zing! Actually I like it alright, for what has been released. I’m not a big fan of overblown, end of the world stories – because I think there is more to tell with Ghostbusters. But it would be unfair of me to judge a movie by it’s trailer alone, so I’ll definitely watch it and download it and most likely watch it again.

You guys should comment like this on the Ghostheads news items.

I don’t know what the problem is here. Sure the acting is a little poor, and the dialogue isn’t mixed right in the trailer and it’s really hard to hear what they’re saying over the music, but the effects are really good! I had to backtrack over the first effects shot twice to see if it was taken from one of the movies. I give it a thumbs up, because if they’re not going to give us another Ghostbusters movie, I’d rather have some fan films to keep my satisfied.

Bo, I was nominated in 2008 for an Ohio Valley Regional Emmy for Best Nostalgia Program, for a documentary I wrote and directed about the region of the country I live in.

Ive done films for M.A.D.D., and produced and written several short and feature films that have made the film festival circuits

I have also shot commercials for Honda, Dodge and a handful of other companies all around the country.

For the record, when you put something out on the internet, you EXPECT people to love it or hate it. Thats the point of making a movie, to let it go and let the public decide. To be overly sensative about a project will only draw more ire towards you. As I have stated before, I am not talking shit, just saying there are people on this board, who have more experience and have been where you now are. It might be beneficial to stop being so sensative and accept the comments good or bad and use them to learn from.

Castwar, I couldn't include Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good in the book--most of my all-time favorites aren't in there, actually, simply because I needed to make room for the better-known flicks. However, I show Bustin all the time when I do author talks about fan films, and my love of the short is pretty well-known. One of the earliest things I wrote for fancinematoday was a review of Bustin--I had the BEST time over-analyzing it, pulling reading far more into it than anyone ever intended.

I’ve never made a fan film but I have been apart a lot of original movies which if you think about are ALOT more creative then a fan film because we need to come up with an original concept, not just piggy bag someone else idea so I have some insight about the process. From what I’ve seen a lot of the criticism seems pretty valid. The lighting was pretty bad in some shots, the letterbox cuts off people at heads and this is just a personal opinion maybe you want to look the party? Maybe a haircut and a shave would help sell the character. Bo please calm down.

Watched the Final Trailer:
Gotta admit: it’s much better then the first one!
But still – the Trailer ist far too long! The first half (1:47 min.) should be cut down into 30 Seconds. The second half is pretty good, but the ?David Blane? Joke should be completty cut from the trailer.
But still the Effects (the Beam and the ghosts) looked pretty damn good!
I’m looking forward to see the the Movie! Hope a link will be postet on protoncharging

I will never hate on someone who tries to make a movie. But I will say that I agree with a good portion of the comments. The biggest thing that bugs me here is that EVERYONES head is cut off by the letterboxing. WHich means it wasnt shot that way and they letterboxed the video after. Problem is it makes the movie look cheap. Shooting on video doesnt help either…I say A for effort…but an F on execution. Hopefully it was a learning experience for the group and they can do better next time.
